We left Montreal on US air to head for San Juan the day before our cruise As usual I booked a "blind"hotel on Hotwire I asked for a 4 star and got thre RIO Mar hotel in Rio Grande Only AFTER I got it did I realize we were WAY out of town. The Hotel is close to EL YUNQUE and so we needed hotel transfers which did cost $$$$ Also the next day to port was 75$ Ifound a 1-800 number to request it They were very nice and gave us an Ocean view room ...lovely under the full moon !!!

The Hotel ,a WYNDHAM ,was very nice ,beautiful grounds friendly staff but far from everything so we had to eat there. WE did enjoy the Casino and an early night .I would not return there just because of convenience ...too far from port but for a longer stay very nice place

We arrived at port .landed in the wrong place with our Taxi and had to finangle a porter to help us out with loads of luggage ...my Spanish helped ..plus a generous tip ..THey do ask for it A LOT!!!! Read more
