The staff was phenomenal. American Airlines lost one of our bags en route from Dallas to Miami, so we figured we were going to have to sort it out when we got back. The airline told us we could try to get it when we got to our port in Cozumel, but we figured we were in for a bigger headache. We told guest services what was going on and asked for their advice on what to do, and they took care of EVERYTHING. They coordinated with the airline so that the bag would be in Cozumel on Saturday, then arranged for a representative from the ship to go get it. We were still skeptical that this would work out. In the meantime, they gave us vouchers for free laundry service and a discount in the shop to buy toiletries and clothes. On Saturday morning, we checked with them and they said they had already checked and our suitcase had not arrived at the airport yet. Later on, they called to say it had gotten there and a representative was on the way to get it. I was very impressed with the sense of urgency they handled a problem that was not their fault and their willingness to do everything they could to make sure we had a great time on our vacation. Absolutely above and beyond great customer service!!!!
We spent a lot of time in the casino, mostly playing blackjack. The dealers were all fun to give our money to, and the floor managers were really friendly as well. A couple of dealers taught me the concept of craps on a slow afternoon, which was no easy task for them. I'm still a little confused by it, but they were really fun to joke around with and seemed like they were having a good time, too.
Maria, the casino manager, was an absolute doll. She comped us our drinks while in the casino for the whole trip and had a bottle of wine sent to our room the second night. Over the next couple of days, she would also give us bathrobes, a spa kit, a large bottle of Grey Goose vodka (my fiance's favorite) as well as a little sampler of their flavored vodkas, and a couple of sailor hats signed by Weezer. Granted, we did leave a chunk of change behind us, but we would have done that without the wonderful gifts! Just another example of the Carnival staff taking care of their guests and ensuring great memories.
We had a room that was two twin size beds. We made a mental note to call and ask them to push them together after we got something to eat. When we came back, it had already been done without our asking and the topper they put on the bed made it hardly noticeable that it was two mattresses. The cleaning staff comes by several times a day, which is nice because the room is so small that keeping things tidy makes a big difference. It reminded us of the hotels in Europe- small and efficient. If you're spending enough time in your room to care, you're not doing your cruise right!!!!
The food on board was pretty good. We mostly ate at the buffet on the Lido deck, which was the main deck. I wouldn't say that I would go back just for the food, but it was good. It's also nice that they have pizza available 24 hours, which is nice when you're having fun and don't realize it's 4am.
All in all, we had a great time and are looking forward to going on another cruise with Carnival- they've won us over!
Our bathroom came with tons of toothpaste samples, a bar of soap, shower gel, and shampoo. I recommend bringing your own toiletries, the shampoo and shower gel were not very good.
Ladies, if you blow dry your hair, the blow dryers in the room are the weird vacuum hose looking kind. They do a good enough job, but if you're fussy, bring your own.
Port & Shore Excursion Reviews
MiamiThe port workers didn't seem to know what was going on. We got through security easily enough, but as we were trying to tell someone what was going on with our lost suitcase and get our boarding documents, we were sent to 4 different spots.View All 1,933 Miami Cruise Port Reviews
