Carribean on Board the Silhouette 01/05/12-01/17/12

Sail Date: January 2012
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Other
Took the 12 night Celebrity Silhouette cruise out of Cape Liberty on January 5th. We live in baltimore so our travel agent set us up with a shuttle bus to Bayonne. Great deal as it was only a $100.00 per person for a round trip. No brainer here as it would have cost $228.00 just to leave our car at the terminal. Of course then there were the tolls and price of gas. The bus was perfect.

EMBARKATION - Very smooth compared to when we sailed out of Bayonne 3 years ago. We arrived at the port approximately 1:30 and were checked in and in our cabin by 2:00 P.M. Went to Ocean View Cafe for a quick lunch before the life boat drill.

ACCOMODATIONS - We were in cabin #9280 and it was fabulous. Plenty of room and the biggest bathroom area in any balcony cabin we have ever had. Storage space was adequate and there was plenty of room under the bed for suitcases. Also, excellent closet space for hanging clothes.

STATEROOM ATTENDANT - Our stateroom attendant Antonio and his More assisstant, were fabulous. This guy had to have a periscope or something, as every time we left the room he was there to clean or bring ice.

MEALS- Ate all dinners in MDR and breakfast and lunch in Ocean View Cafe. I refuse to pay anything extra for meals on a cruise. Food was any where from Good to Excellent in MDR and very good in Ocean View Cafe. Unlike many of the buffets on the ship the food was actually hor. Our waiter Kavi, and his assistant Gilbert, were very good and attentive in the Dining Room. These guys were right on the ball and very friendly. Also our bar server, Randy was great.

ENTERTAINMENT - Shows were great the first 6 nights but went downhill after that. Not sure what happened but when they changed entertainers midway during the cruise, it must have been the B Team. The Celbrity Singers and Dancers were very good and tried hard. The music around the ship was excellent.

CRUISE DIRECTOR - Paul was our cruise director and did everything a cruise director was supposed to. He also had a great voice and performed at a couple of the shows along with some of the night activities.

DISEMBARKATION - This was also a breeze. They were late calling our number but once they did, we were off the ship and on the bus within 30 minutes.

OVERALL - I would rate this cruise as one of the best I have ever been on. The ship was beautiful, clean and the Captain and all staff were the most professional I have ever dealt with. Only one issue I had was, that as a smoker, we felt like wewere really discriminated against. Two places on the entire ship where you could smoke. They provided a grand total of 10 chairs and 8 ash trays on Deck 12 and 8 tables with ashtrays on Deck 14. Less
