I'll be short and to the point. As long time RCCL cruisers, we noticed an improvment in quality over the past couple of years, so perhaps the "nickel and dime" cuts inplemented by RCCL over the last several years may have come to a halt, or at least slowed down. There's still no robes, bathroom amenities, Crown and Anchor parties skimpy, but overall, very good service and far better than average.
Temperatures were cool sailing out of NOLA for the first couple of days, bu plenty of onboard activites. We had been scheduled to port at Falmouth, Jamaica, but high winds and rough seas had the Captain steer us to Montego Bay (actually a plus). We went to Grand Cayman next and that's where my biggest compaint arises.
We were told that the last tender would leave shore for the ship at 3:30 p.m. My wife and I arrived at the tender location around 2 p.m., only to be met by a line of 750-1,000 passengers, wrapping around the port facility several times. 80+ degrees, hot sun, very limited shade, no water provided.....inquiry to RCCL security staff said that 4 tenders were running, but it was actually 2 (5 ships in Port at one time). No one from RCCL seemed to be in charge and instead seemed content to let us swelter in the long line. 2 hours later we were back on the ship, but the tendering operation continued until 5 p.m.
We were in Promenade cabine 7559; a little larger than the typical inside and a better furniture arrangement, that seemed to add space to the room. There;'s a bit of noice from the Promenade below, but it comes to a halt by 11 p.m. A better value than a typical inside.
