What was supposed to be a surprise for my birthday, was quickly overshadowed by a total lack of customer service. I was surprised and saddened at Carnival Cruise Line. Long story short, My mother in law surprised me and my family with an upgrade from an Extended Balcony Suite to the Owner Suite!!! I was in complete awe of this room when I walked in it for the first time. That is where it all ended. It was nothing more than a fancy room. There were no aminities to go along with this "penthouse suite." Getting on the ship was quick and easy. Being a so called VIP guest got you to the front of the line, which was fantastic. We were taken straight to our room, which was on the Sports deck. The only other thing on this level was the Spa. Our party had both Owner's Suites.

The first night we were late leaving by almost 2 hrs, which wasn't a big deal. We were told these rooms were completely sound proof. HA!!!!! Far from it. The running track was directly above the room, so every morning at 6am sharp, you could hear thumping of people running. Also, the party on the Lido deck was directly outside our window, so you could hear the music blaring and the drunks screaming. I have no problem with the partying, but don't advertise the room as being something special and sound proof because it wasn't.

The on board stuff was standard. I did decent at the casino, so no worries there. Correct me if I am wrong, but if you pay a few thousand dollars for these "special" suites, wouldn't you expect some aminities? We got nothing!!!! Not a free drink or anything!!! We saw our room steward a couple time. She did what she was supposed to do, but nothing extraordinary. The icing on the cake was disembarkment. We were told that we would be taken directly off the ship with no problems. Not only did it take someone about an hour to make it to our room, we were taken to deck 3 and left there to wait for someone to escort us off. That was another 30 minute wait. It was like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We even had a handicapped person in our group. She was in a wheel chair and we were just left on the 3rd deck where everyone was using self assist to disembark. You should have seen all the dirty looks passengers gave us for just standing in the middle of that room waiting for someone to take us off the ship. Total chaos!!!!
