This was a first cruise for me but not for the folk I went with. We flew from Heathrow l0hrs 55mins to Miami and then after a long queue finally got our transfer to Fort Lauderdale Hilton Hotel. We were collected the next morning and taken to Port Everglades for the start of the embarkation process! This was far quicker than I imagined it would be. It was a nice touch to be greeted with a glass of champagne or juice as we entered the lounge. Once the buffet was open we could have lunch while the staterooms were being made ready. I found the lunchtime buffet on deck 14 amazing. So much variety and lots of different stations providing so many different foods.

I had an inside stateroom whereas my parents had a balcony as they prefer that. I can see why as I often would meet them before dinner and it was so nice to sit out there looking out to sea. My inside cabin was fine. Plenty of room. Lots of little drawers in the bathroom for storage and plenty of drawer space for my clothes plus the large wardrobe with enough hangers for my use. The bed was made up each morning and turned back in the evening with a chocolate placed on the pillow!!

We had the 6pm dinner in the Silouette. The waiters were very friendly and efficient, always asking if you enjoyed your meal or if not did you wish to re order something else. It was very 'subtle' lighting in there though. Some of the folk on the table had difficulty reading the menu without putting the candle nearby.

Cabin Review

My cabin 7166 on 7th deck was an inside cabin. Clean and spacious. Plenty of little drawers in the bathroom for toiletries. Drawers under the t.v. and also safe and mini bar. Wardrobe was ample for my needs and had plenty of hangers in there. Also a dressing gown if you needed one. Hairdryer was under dressing table too. Not particularly powerful but ok. Think it is the voltage as I took my own and it was just the same.

The main time I felt any signs of movement of the ship was on the way to Cozumel when the seas were a little choppy but I suppose I was at the front of the ship!! I didn't find it particulary noisy but do wonder if there was the ice machine nearby as occasionally it sounded like one of those. Cabin wasn't too far to walk to lifts either. I found it ok for the time I was there. Maybe go for a balcony another time though.
