We flew into Miami on Sunday Feb 20, stayed at the Clarion Suites airport because I had a free night. Transportation to Port of Miami on Monday was $16 for two people. Time between being dropped off in front of the RCL terminal to boarding ship was about 30 minutes, very easy and quick process. We went directly to our cabin on deck 5 which had a window. The only other cruise we had taken was in 1993 on this same ship and on that one we had an inside cabin. There was no comparison, it was great to have a window.
After checking out our cabin and leaving carry ons we headed for the Windjammer buffet, same place everyone was going. What has been said about the elevators is true, they are very slow, and sometimes even bypass your deck for no apparent reason. To us the buffet food was only average, but on a ship everyone eats as if it is 5 star.
It was a beautiful night to sail, and for 4 days we had very good weather. The sea was as calm as a lake. We took a pill the first night as a precaution against seasickness, but did not need any pills after that. We had second seating, 8:30, and that proved best for us. They had shows at 7:15 for us and at 9:00 for the first seating. The entertainment was first rate, from the singers and dancers to the comedy act. That was our most enjoyable part of the trip.
