Greatly enjoyed out recent cruise on the Fascination. Mostly surprised on the upside. The ship was well kept. CCL is to be commended for keeping up one of its older smaller Fantasy class ships. No this ship does not have all the features of the newer larger ships. No surcharge restaurants and just a single pool to say nothing of lacking an ice rink or climbing walls. If you demand these features then stay away. BUT the food, staff cabins and public rooms were all good and modern.
Went on the cruise nervous about going on an old ship with a lousy CD. Jen Baxter wasn't great but she wasn't bad. Not sure why she so grates on others. The activity's on board are the usual with enjoyable (amateurish)shows. It ain't Cirque du Soleil, not even close! Lots of trivia contests. Again, the usual.Lots and lots to keep you occupied. Really enjoyed the afternoon tea. Note to Carnival, don't discontinue these.
The food in the MDR was very good as usual. We had Your Time Dining which was great. (Would never cruise with assigned dining times). We had to wait once for all of 15 minutes. That night we got an apology and chocolate covered strawberries in both our cabin and also our kids.Wish life was always like this.
We had 2 PT cabins, U27 and R18. Good value BUT you will here the thrusters when entering a port. You might also hear this noise in any cabin class depending on location. Best to get a PT further away from the stern if possible.R deck (4th) was not a problem for our kids although it involves more stairs. We enjoyed being on Upper(6th) deck and almost always used the stairs.
