Sailed on the Silhouette on 11-30-2011 out of Cape liberty. For some comparasions sailed on the Summit in May 2011 out of Cape Liberty.
The Silhouette is a beautiful ship that is very stable. The public restrooms wowed most passengers (you have to see them to appreciate this statement. The main dining room and 2,000 bottle wine rack very impressive. The staterooms are much larger and the bathrooms with their circular enclosed plexiglass showers and lots of places to put things very nice. The seventh floor had an area near midship where you could sit, read, talk with friends and drink available tea and coffee. The interactive tv to book excursions, view pictures, restaurants, view your bill, etc... is very helpful.
Now for the beast. The food in the dining room while good was not as good as that on the Summit. The chairs in the dining room were terrible. They were extremely heavy, very deep and did not support the back. In order to eat you had to sit way forward in the seat to reach the table. The space allowed for clothing storage is inadequate for two people on a twelve night cruise. There is one closet, three deep drawers, open cubbyholes on both sides of the bed, and two storage ares about a foot deep and the width of the bed. The only way to reach this storage area is to stand or kneel on the bed. The only trash receptacles are in the pool area, staterooms, and public restrooms. There is no other place to dispose of trash within the ship. One of the elevators was out of service for the entire trip. The metal faucet in the stateroom bathroom may be a hazard for some. It sticks out over 1/2 the sink and gets very hot when using just hot water. The ship entertainers tried hard with some awful material. Here again on the Summit the ship entertainers and material were great. The outside entertainers were very good.
