Fantastic Cruise

Sail Date: November 2011
Destination: South Pacific
Embarkation: Sydney (Australia)
We just got back from a 14 day cruise around the south pacific which has been above our already high expectations. Everyone in my party was under 25 so we were a bit iffy about going on a cruise but we had the best time ever.We had never been on a cruise but heard from my mother it was great so we decided to give it a go. Hopefully this review will give a summary of the cruise from a younger perspective.

Everything was fantastic on the cruise with the best things been the food on the ship and the staff treating us like kings for every second we were on the ship.

Cabin- Cabin was great we had 3 very messy young people and every time we left the room in a mess we would come back and it was cleaned. Twice a day! With 3 people and 2 men in the room we found it quite comfortable and we had our luggage all over the floor so we could of had much more space if we weren't so lazy.

Food- Fantastic.. No matter what we ate or where or when we ate everything was just More beyond delicious. Dining was amazing every night and our waiters were amazing in giving us whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. Buffet was also unbelievable but for breakfast it become a bit boring every day. Balcony grill offered some of the best burgers ive ever had and the pizzas in La Scala were some of the best ive ever tried. Deserts were unbelievable and between the three of us we ate enough for 5 people! We found that some days we ate too much and we would get too sleepy or just fit in dinner so try and control how much you eat and focus around dinner dining because that was the best.

Service- Between the dining and cocktail waiters and our cabin steward we cannot fault anyone. People at information were also great in answering our questions and talking to us perhaps cause we were the same age as them.

Entertainment- Some of the shows were great but we found the night club a bit boring. More like your local RSL with really lame music and lamer DJs trying to hype up a bunch of pensioners on the dance floor. Casino was great all the dealers were really friendly and we preferred to spend a night there talking to them and fellow blackjack players. All the dealers made it alot easier to lose your money :) In terms of entertainment for young people there isn't anything catered for us.. However we found that every night between dinner and a cocktail we still had an awesome time every single night!

Alcohol- We found it pretty cheap $10 for cocktails and they were always amazing. Wine with dinner started at $25 a bottle and it was good enough for us. Buckets of beer also great 5 for $20 but cocktails were a better choice cause they were so great. We tried nearly every single one and there is something for everyone on the list.

Ports- Don't do any of the Princess shore excursions.. We just got off and got better deals for like $20 when princess would charge like $80-$120 for the same thing. All the ports were amazing with a different touch everywhere we went. Strongly recommend to organise your own thing though.

Other guests- Lots of old people complaining about anything and everything, at the start it kinda puts you off but when you distance yourself from them you'll start to find loads of other cool older people that were really friendly. We think that all up there was about another 20 people in the age group of 20-30 on the whole ship so don't expect to meet loads of new drinking buddies on the ship.

Bad things-
- Parents not controlling their kids one kid splashed water in my face when i was in the hot tub for no reason.
- Old people complaining about everything. Old people treating the waiters like a piece of dirt. Old people thinking they know the world cause they have done over 20 cruises.
- Reflections DVD. Complete rip off $45 for 8 chapters of 'on board events' which was basically whatever they could be bothered to film.

Already booked our next cruise.. Unfortunately not with Princess because the dates didn't suit us but highly recommend Princess.. for the price we paid it was unbelievable value for money. Under $100 a night you can not go wrong.. Most hotels in Sydney charge more than that and there's nothing better than sleeping and waking up in a new town every day. We are hoping to do the world cruise in 2013..

Final tip for the younger people.. Don't go on expecting to meet loads of young people but do go on expecting a nice relaxing holiday and been treated like a king. I usually backpack when i travel but this was an amazing change and a different type of travel which Ive fallen in love with. Less
