I would like to start out by saying that my wife and I have been cruising since 1995. We have been on 13 cruises.
I will start by pointing out the good things in our view. The crew on the star all were great but one waiter that seemed like he was doing us a favor to wait on us. I thought the ship was very nice and well maintained but not as large as some we have been but we knew that when we booked the cruise. One high point to the cruise was being able to do the bridge tour thanks to our meet and greet. It was interesting to talk to the captain and to be free to walk around and look at everything for about an hour. WONDERFUL!!!!! Our balcony cabin was very nice the bathrooms are larger than any other ship that we have been on. The food in the buffet dining rooms was good and I never had a trouble finding a clean table. The tables were bussed as soon as someone get and leave. My wife and I and the two friends we traveled with went to Cagney dining room. I have say it was well worth the extra money.
Ok now with the negatives . Like I had mentioned we have been cruising since 1995. I think I can say that I know how it use to be and how it is now, speaking of the main dining rooms. I don't know what the cause is for the poor service and food.I think a lot of the service problems stems from the lack of wait staff. When we first started cruising there was a waiter and a assistant waiter and a buss person worked two maybe three tables. Now one waiter is waiting on 5 tables without the additional help. Not once were we asked what we would like to drink. Most every time there was always something missing from the table be it plates, flatware, or glasses etc. You use to be made to feel like you were important, like my wife would say rich and famous. One night it took 2 hours to finish dinner not including the wait time to be seated. I feel like they are trying to steer people to the buffet areas that well staffed instead of the main dining rooms.
