Carnival Dream Cruise Review by Denisern2
- Sail Date: October 2011
- Destination: Western Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Spa Balcony
Cabin, Loved the spa cabins except the treadmills pounding overhead beginning at 6am. And we could still smell smoke on balcony as below us was all smoking. So would not do Spa cabin on CCL unless upgraded. The T pool was small and crowded, Steam rooms were great. Not worth the money though.
Food: The Steakhouse was amazing...really the best specialty meals (went twice) I have ever had at sea. The dining room Traditional early....Servers were great and The food tasted really good. The problem was it was always warm. Not hot warm but cold warm.
Lines were unlike anything I have been used to on Princess and Celebrity. It was a chore to find something to eat unless you went to the dining room. The ship just felt so crowded. Exception was the past bar upstairs from the buffet. Always hot and good!!!! Pizza was never ready and he went to the back to get each slice. Really at lunch have the whole pie out and keep the line moving. These are the little things that had you just shaking your head.
Pool decks were filthy with hair and paper and hairballs everywhere being moved by the wind. This was a major turnoff. Pools were to small for the number of people on board. Serenity area was the best, managed to get up there most days.
Shows were fine and we went to a few and enjoyed them.
All in all a good cruise, had some nice relaxing family time.
Debarkation was just as easy as embarkation.
CCL again??? For the right price but it would have to be much, much less then Princess and Celebrity. You do get what you pay for and I think I would rather pay more for a more Cruiser friendly experience. That does not mean that I did not enjoy my vacation, just means that it is a more budget product and serves a purpose for many cruisers.
