Sail Date: October 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona
My sister and I left Montreal for Barcelona on Oct 14 . I had previously been on EPIC on their busiest week..... 4800 pax ...last MARCH during my son's winter break A week on the EPIC was way too short so I felt I had to go back . I mentioned my interest to the Hotel Manager Denis to do the last Med and Transat in the fall He told me if I did he would take care of me .

WEll as a Birthday present from me to me with lots of love I booked 3 weeks on EPIC... NO 3 weeks is not too long In my books just right EPIC is a beautiful HUGE ship which handled the Atlantic like a champ .Some of those waves were very impressive in size and EPIC rode them all

Our first stop was Florence which was extremely cold compared to Barcelona and where I caught my first cold .Florence is a lovely city which I feel we did not do justice to . I booked an excursion with share a shore excursion Italy but did not realize my fellow CC cruisers were more into wine tasting then visiting What we did More see made me want to go back for more of Florence What a lovely busy busy place WE caught a glimpse of it I hope to return to do it justice
Wine is a matter of taste I did not care for any we tried but others really enjoyed them Our ride in Tuscany was very enjoyable Reminded me of VAN GOGH paintings We also visited a Medieval town which was very interesting I also had a great gelato in Florence after spending a little time in the ACADEMIA to see David I will and must return to Florence

Our next stop was Rome I had been there previously so we took the train into town where our focus was shopping and Rome did not disappoint.PLenty of shopping around Terminei. EPIC supplied a shuttle near the train station
Next stop was Naples and UMBERTO of ITALY driver showed us the best of the Amalfi coast Sorrento and POMPEI I enjoyed Sorrento for its great shopping The coast was amazing and our driver was most interesting I highly recommend him Very informative and pleasant.
Ourlast stop was Palma where I had been to many many years ago . I set out to find El Corte Ingles for my favorite cologne . I found it plus Spanish Flamenco music, Turon and sweaters in a very nice shop I enjoyed this shopping extravaganza and walking in this lovely town EPIC also provided a shuttle into town
Back to Barcelona where both my sister and I took it easy before our transat because of our colds
After a few days at sea we reached PONTA DELGADA and our guide RUI MEDEIROS What a wonderful young man. His island is unique and beautiful and we learned so much from him . Ponta Delgada was wonderful to visit
Now for the ship itself
The ship ,the food the service on EPIC was wonderful THe Hotel Manager and all his staff treated us like VIPs You could not ask for better service When we visited the medical centre the doctors took great care of us They even called during the cruise to make sure we were Ok.. Now where do you get that kind of service???.
The shows were outstanding Cirque Dreams and both Spanish dancers and musicians were FABULOUS I loved FAT CATS music and Howl at the Moon
Every day we played Trivia with Richard and Kevin who kept it interesting. My teammates were wonderful people from England . I found most people on EPIC extremely friendly . Epic's freestyle encourages smiles and casual style WE really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere
At first it was Cool to enjoy POSH but as we sailed South It was THE place to be ..GREAT sevice SUPER lunch Very nice staff We were able to go up there to dry up our coughs and colds
Because we were on EPIC for 3 weeks we got to know many staff members THey have got to be the VERY BEST AT SEA EVeryone greeted us and seemed genuinely happy to help us or have a conversation
Denis and Rashida did treat us VERY well THANK YOU DENIS I really appreciated all the gifts and special invitations forwarded to us I must also thank Luisa,Martin and Rosaria for the special attention in the dining rooms also Simon and all the assistant maitre ds who took time to chat with us . A big THANK YOU to Rodney for my exotic fruit plates . I cannot thank the whole staff enough for service above and beyond .YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!

The new Legends with Elvis and Lady gaga is GREAT But Hats off to the new CIRQUE DREAMS ..BOy are people in for a TREAT THat new show is AMAZING
All in all EPIC was a memorable experience in a good way In spite of my being sick I enjoyed every minute on EPIC It truly is a MAJESTIC ship And I can only say good things about the people who run it THank you for a wonderful cruise I;m sure no one will surpass you in my books
I look forward to many more cruises with NCL if EPIC is an example of the service one can expect on any NCKL SHIP GOOD JOB EPIC WE shall return
