We were excited to be taking another NCL cruise because this time we were bringing our 16 yr. old grandson for his first cruise experience. We had been on the Jade and the Jewel previously. The Sun honesty cannot be compared to those larger ships. The buffet was crowded and difficult to maneuver. Food plentiful but ordinary. The food in the main restaurants was also ordinary. Never had anything special. Also what's with the $5 charge for pizza after 2:30? We liked our mid ship balcony room except for the tiny old TV and the shower curtain. I guess we were spoiled by the larger glass enclosed showers on the other ships.

The entertainment was only OK except for the hypnotist, Nadine. We enjoyed her show and her seminars and hadn't seen anyone like her on other cruises. The casino was smoky and crowded and I never got to know any casino staff. Many times all the machines were taken and there were lines at the tables. Guess that was good for them. Good for me because I saved some money since I couldn't enjoy gambling and that is saying something for me. There weren't many activities to do on the ship except play Bingo. It took a long time for the games to start and then the callers were so slow and threw in so many lame jokes that it really wasn't worth it. The lounge entertainers were good.

Worst of all was the disembarkation. Our grandson had a noon flight to catch which we were assured he could make if we asked to be first off the ship. It was the only direct flight for him so it was important. When it was time to disembark they called all color tags at once and it was mayhem. We waited over an hour to get off the ship even though we had white tags. Consequently our grandson missed his flight and had to take a connecting flight making him wait by himself in Atlanta for four hours. This was our ninth cruise and our very worst experience. I will never go on the Sun again or recommend it to anyone else.
