We have cruised exclusively with Holland America, always in a Deluxe Verandah Suite, because we like the service and the accommodations.

However, we have just returned from a 10-day New England/Canada cruise and were terribly disappointed. The Eurodam is only three years old but looks like a ship that has been in service for 10-15 years with no major maintenance.

We were shocked and disappointed when we saw our suite. The sofa cushions were so worn down that the bedding from the bed in the sofa showed through and the cushions were very difficult to sit on because they slanted toward the floor; the additional chairs were stained and the furniture was scratched. The bathroom shelves were sagging and the bathroom wasn't clean. But, when we went to bed the first night, we couldn't believe it. The pillows smelled like sweat and the bedding did not look clean. The bed was not properly made once during the cruise. We took the extra comforter out to use and it had urine stains on it. We sent it out and asked for a new one, which was never delivered.

Neptune Deluxe Veranda Suite

Cabin SA

Suite 7053, Deluxe Verandah Suite, Eurodam, Holland America

The size is great, especially for two people, the closet space is more than adequate, the bathroom is adequate (although we didn't feel our bathroom was clean), the verandah is roomy with a table and four chairs, and two additional chairs and ottomans.

The suite needs to be cleaned and better maintained and the bedding cleaned.
