This whole cruise was kind of strange. Started when we boarded the ship and they gave us a paper saying that due to high tide, they wouldn't be leaving port until 9:30pm, and that they could be changing the itinerary - switching the Freeport day with the day at sea. They would be refunding all the Freeport excursions and letting people rebook if they wanted. Hello - you didn't anticipate the high tide enough in advance to notify customers so that they could make other arrangements if they were doing a non-Carnival excursion? It rained pretty much the whole 4 days. They tried to do what they re-termed a 'pre-sail' deck party in the rain, which was pretty much a flop. They did have dancing on the deck under the roof, but the band didn't know any of the contemporary line dances that people like to do now, other than the Electric Slide. They were requested to do the Cupid Shuffle, the Cha Cha Slide and the Wobble (all of which are done on other Carnival ships) and didn't know any of them. Finally looked in their book and found the Macarena, but no one was interested in doing it. The first night, someone had a heart attack in the dining room during dinner and they sped up to get to Nassau in a hurry to get him to the hospital. We never heard if he was ok. Due to the rain, most of the trivia games were moved inside, but for some, no one ever bothered to go up to the Lido do round up people who were out there waiting for the game to start and let them know the new location. My sister missed a game that she really wanted to play and probably would have won. The girl who ran the trivia games didn't have her act together. She showed up late to every game, couldn't work the equipment and had to get someone to come and help her most times. For the one where she got the equipment to work ok, she didn't have the right CD. You'd think she would have gotten there early enough to make sure everything was going to work. It would have also helped if they had titled the trivia games so you would know before deciding to go if they were doing '70s - 80s music', contemporary, or Motown, etc. Some of them were titled, others weren't. We went to do movie trivia, and it was all cartoons. We went to do 'Musicals', and most of what they did were Disney cartoons. My brother-in-law bought liquor, which was supposed to have been delivered to his room the last night, but when he tried to track it down, no one had any record of his having bought it, and he didn't get it. Our waiter, Jorge, was great, but obviously very overworked. The kitchen must have had a problem one night because we were in the dining room for over an hour before getting our entrees, and it was almost 8:00 before we got our desserts. I guess we're glad that Carnival is trying to keep prices down, but felt sorry for the staff. Hope this was all just a fluke - have been on the Fascination 3 times before and really enjoyed it.
