This was our 6th Carnival cruise and our 3rd on the Fantasy. We cruised from Port Canaveral in 2006, New Orleans in 2007 and now Charleston in 2011. The ship has been totally refurbished and was very clean, modern and much improved since 2007. The waterworks was fun and the adult only Serenity Retreat was so relaxing. Charleston was the easiest and most efficient port we had sailed from. The process from the gates opening at 11:20 to shuttling from the parking warehouse to the terminal to embarking on the ship took approx. one hour. They used a silent debarkation that began at 6:40 am..we carried our luggage off and were back in our car at 7:10 am. My wife and I were in much need of rest and relaxation and got much of both. We had an interior room and with a towel at the bottom of the door and lights out in the cabin ...it was pitch dark at anytime of the day!!! Our room steward was very nice and efficient as always on Carnival. We dined in the Jubilee dining room, table 331. Our servers were very friendly, but a little overwhelmed with the work load. Not sure who to blame, possibly the maitre d. Our table, a four top, was one level down from his other 3 or 4 big tops and it caused some delays in our service. He was very friendly and always called us by name but i think the setup was inefficient. We did not allow this to take away from our enjoyment. We love late dining because it gives us lots of time for coffee and dessert afterwards. The food was good and the new menu needs a little tweaking but i am confident you can find something to eat at every meal. A little free advise, if you do not like your first choice...please ask for something else. The staff is there to serve you and to make your cruise enjoyable. We never dined in the sit down breakfast or lunch. We did have the breakfast bar in the Windows on the Sea and lido deck and both were good. Lunch was same. We enjoyed the pizza bar and ice cream late night after gambling til the wee hours. The comedians were funny, did not take in the shows and broke about even in the casino(always a good thing). We had a couple of coffee drinks and checked out a Jenga game from the library and relaxed!!! All in all another top notch job by the crew of the Carnival Fantasy. We always book our cruise through Cary Robaina from Carnival(ext. 82863) give her a call!!! We began using Carnival for the price...and we stay with Carnival because of the people and the service...we have no intentions of leaving!!!

Cabin Review

Interior
Cabin 4E E120
we had a handicap room and enjoyed the larger bathroom and shower...only negative about the cabins are the terrible choices of tv stations the cruise line uses...not that we watched much at all but would have enjoyed ESPN...lol

we had planned on renting a car and spending the day at Gold Rock Beach. We had a terrible experience with the rudest lady at Celebrity Rentals at the port. She was rude and insulting and i would not recommend anyone giving this company a dime. It shook us up for about an hour and left us undecided as to what to do. Two years ago took the cab to the shopping district and spent the day at the beach. We decided to do the same. However, our public beach was now private at the Radisson. It was 20 bucks per person for day pass...we were already standing there(there is a public access next to police station) but after our experience with the car rental..we paid the money...BEST 40 bucks we ever spent!!! the beach was empty..just the 2 of us...spent a couple hours...got some pizza and wings at the joint next to the Radisson..excellent...then spent couple or three hours at the Radisson pool...took in some rays...changed into dry clothes and walked back to shopping district for the cab ride back to the pier!!! ended up being a GREAT day after a terrible start!!!
would give it a 5plus if not for the rude lady at the car rental!!!
