We sailed on the Pride of America 08/20/11-08/27/11 and we had a GREAT time. I booked this cruise in January of 2009 during a fantastic NCL promo and had plenty of time to read all the horrible reviews. Since cruising is our #1 vacation choice, I know that a cruise is often more what you make of it, so I decided to be my own judge.
Read many reviews about the American crew being lazy and indifferent. Well, I can tell you they were anything but!! We found each and every crew member, from the cabin stewards and porters to the Officers to be extremely hard working, very friendly and ore than anxious to please. There was not one crew member without a smile or an offer to help.
Also read lots of nasty comments about the food. No real complaints here. We ate in the main dining room several nights and the food was delicious. Only thing about the main dining room that was not perfect for us, was that it is so dark inside the restaurant. Although the staff was very accommodating to kids, the atmosphere was not good for my boys, a little too formal. Was not a problem for us however, because on those nights the kids begged to eat at the buffet and go to the kids club so we obliged and then ate alone in the dining room! Only complaint I have about the buffet was that at breakfast, the bacon and hash browns always seemed to be swimming in oil, none of the other foods, just those...weird!
No problem with noise at all, nice balcony, not very much storage space for 4 people, sofa bed had a great firm mattress.
Oh, not much on TV at all. :0)
