We booked a Penthouse suite expecting to be catered to. Normally we do't need much from the staff when cruising but this time we wanted to be spoiled. When you spend $10K on a cruise you want something for it. Getting on board to our cabin was great. From the time we got dropped off at the dock till we were in our cabin as 20 - 25 minutes. We had a special line for check-in and got escorted to a private lounge area. Within minutes we met Victoria, our concierge who then passes us off to someone else fr the escort to the cabin. Little did we know that the quick hello from Victoria would be the last time we saw her or heard from her for 3 days. Cabin was very nice, smaller than we anticipated but the forward looking deck was huge. The cabin was still not completely clean so we wandered the outside decks for a bit. Oswald our cabin steward was on the job and got out cabin ready quickly. He was outstanding the whole cruise and we made sure he was compensated for his efforts. Juan our butler showed up at out cabin later in the day for introductions. He was very nice and took care of finding the roses I had ordered but once again we didn't see him unless we looked for him during the cruise. The coffee/ cappuccino machine in the cabin was awesome.
The dawn is nice but many things seemed old. We have sailed with Royal Caribbean and DCL so perhaps my perspective is tainted. It always seemed like the passageways were cluttered with carts and coolers. Lights were off or not working.
Cagney's was nice, during the cruise we had a breakfast, a lunch and a dinner there. Staff was good but the food was rather plain. The Italian restaurant was nicely presented but the food lacked any real taste. My wife got the Chicken sambuca and it tasted like plain Alfredo sauce over noodles.
Not as big as they make it sound for the money. Needs more hangers. Shower was difficult to stand in due the built in slope. Deck was as big as the cabin and was nice to invite friends to hand out on.Make sure you close the outer weather door to the deck on windy and raining days or the rain gets in. Bed was comfortable but stains on original bedspread. Needs more USA outlets. Footstool/bench at the end of the bed was useless and got in the way until we got rid of it. Great views from deck. Luggage fits nicely under the raised beds. Wife loved the make-up area. Toilets never disposed of articles on one flush.
