Having never been to eastern Canada and New England before this intinerary appealed to my wife and I. We thought a late summer cruise to the region would be fun. Having read other posts here about this region in the summer the thought of hurricane related weather was in the very back regions of my mind. (More on that later)

Embarkation was a breeze once we arrived at Red Hook terminal in Brooklyn. Getting to the port was challenging to say the least. We took the red eye from SLC, UT the previous evening and arrived at JFK around 05:45am. The terminal we were at was very boring and we were told that the main terminal would have more to offer so we took a short walk to that terminal. We had purchased transfers from Princess so we kept looking for someone to greet us from Princess and never saw them. At about 12:15pm we said to heck with this and hired a cab to take us to the port. The cabbie had a hard time finding the port so we ended up with a spendy fare to get there.

Once onboard we dropped off our carry ons to our cabin and went straight to the sanctuary to reserve the next day there as we needed rest after the red eye and jet lag getting to NYC. After a nice lunch, we explored as much of the ship as we could until we hit the wall and decided to nap in our balcony cabin on the aft end of the Rivera deck just below Cafe Caribbe. (Which was a good thing since it was very handy to bring food back to our cabin).
