Cruised NCL on 8/6/11. The ship was very good. Shore excursions were overpriced. Took the local bus to Mendenhall glacier and saved $43 for 2. It was $8 both ways. Mile walk to glacier and the lake in front kept us from getting close enough to touch. We went cheap and did not visit any of the pay extra restaurants. I heard great things about all of them from fellow cruisers. Regular dining was fine. It got old a few times waiting on our next course so saved a lot of time going to the Market buffet for breakfast and lunches. The grill on deck was also very good, especially the made to order omelets in the morning. Took the train and had breathtaking views all the way up the mountain in Skagway. Didn't feel it was worth 119 a person though. The best shopping deals for souvenirs was in the first port of Ketchikan. All the rest were repeats with higher prices(Juneau,Skagway,Prince Rupert) Prince Rupert was worthless to visit. Don't waste your time, there's more to see on the boat than here! We also sailed to Glacier Bay, but I was disappointed at the distance we were from the Glacier. You could barely see it so don't waste 3 hours waiting for the perfect shot on deck saving a space. The ship stops quite a distance from it and there is a good 15 minutes to take a picture because they also meet up with a shore excursion there. That excursion goes much closer(friends took it). The New York strip was fantastic, All fish was cooked perfectly. Disappointed with Rib-eye and prime rib thinness. These were in regular dining. Also the Chocolate was mostly bitter Dark Chocolate. I would have liked to see some Milk Chocolate. All Food was good, not spectacular, but adequate and I did gain 7 pounds so don't worry, you will like it! The captain had a great sense of humor and all staff was anxious to make you happy. Definitely a repeat with less shore time. Would have gotten a room with a balcony had we known we would see so many Whales without running up on deck all the time. Bring a clock for your cabin because they are not supplied.
Would have gotten a cabin with balcony if I had known we would see so much wildlife. Inside cabin was much better than 2 other cruises. The only thing missing was a clock because with no outside light, you never knew what time it was when waking up or deciding to wake up!
