Our cruise started with Embarkation at the NYC Port. The process was quick and and very organized and we never had to wait more than a few minutes in any line. When we boarded the Gem, the first thing we noticed is that the ship is spotless and the crew is unbelievably friendly. We went to our cabin to drop off our bags and once again found it in perfect condition. It almost looked like we were the very first people to ever stay in that cabin. We headed off to lunch at the buffet and on the way met our cabin steward (Reilly). He was so friendly and was always there whenever we needed anything throughout the trip. The lunch in the buffet was excellent. There were so many choices and everything was very good. By the time we went back to our cabin, our bags were already in our room and we were able to unpack and start exploring the ship way before it was time to sail away.

The next three days at sea were wonderful. We never came across a staff member who was not friendly and helpful. They all always had smiles on their face and made you feel like they were happy you were there. We ate at the Magenta Dining Room, the Grand Pacific Dining Room, The Garden Cafe, The Blue Lagoon and we never had anything less then great food and exceptional service. When we ate at the dining rooms the staff was so efficient bringing each course right after the other and always making sure we did not need anything else. It was nice not having to spend hours on eating and it left plenty of time for other activities.

The three days in Bermuda were wonderful. Getting off and on the ship was very easy and hassle free. We saw many beautiful sites and beaches and had a great time. The only down side of the whole trip was the buses and ferries in Bermuda. We would have to wait in lines and switch buses to get where we wanted to be. If you were not in line at least a half hour before the ferry was to go (especially for busy times or to and from St. George) you could be bumped from that trip and would have to wait for the next one. We planned our days out in Bermuda so that we got the most of our time there and it was very sad to leave this beautiful Island.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Cabin was very clean and quiet. We could hear people in the next cabins when they were on their balconies, but not from inside the rooms. There was no noise from above or below areas. Lots of storage space and plenty of space for a couple.
