7 day Alaskan cruise (through Glacier Bay) from Vancouver on the Zuiderdam. The service was amazing! There was nothing we could have wanted that wasn't anticipated. Staff was always smiling, they all remembered our names from the first day. Cabin 7139 (VA) was good. We had booked a guarantee VH and were quite happy with the upgrade. 7139 is only one cabin away from the back of the boat, so it was a bit of a walk to anything in the far forward of the boat, but that was a minor inconvenience. The balcony was a decent size, beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had a tub, which was nice.

The food was fantastic. We did try the Pinnacle Grill (charges $15 extra) and it was very good, but the food in the regular dining room and the Lido was so good, there was really no need to pay the extra. The Lido does tend to get crowded around meal times, but we never had a problem finding a seat or waiting too long. Lido stewards were amazing -remembered our names right from the first (as well as what we took in our tea!)

The shops were the only thing we were disappointed in. There were only a couple of them and really they only sold jewellry. It would have been nice to have a selection of magazines, books, t-shirts, souveniers, etc. to browse. The internet cafe was handy, although the lag time due to satellite internet was frustrating.

7139 - Lots of closet space. Bathtub. Balcony is a decent size. A bit of a walk to anything in the far forward of the ship, but this is a minor inconvenience.
