We sailed on the Ryndam on the 21 day North Cape Splendors cruise and loved every minute of it!! The crew on the Ryndam acted like they were one big happy family and for the time you spent onboard you were a part of their family. It did not matter if you were passing the Caption or the laundry man in the hallway you were always greeted with a smile and a "how are you?" You could tell the crew took pride in the Ryndam because they kept the Ryndam spotless. The crew were also very accommodating it seemed as if there wasn't a guest request to great for them to handle. One couple we were talking too had been on a silver sea cruise before and they said "the service on the Ryndam was just as good as a silver sea cruise."

The dinning on the Ryndam was excellent we were on for 21 days and never got the same menu twice. Our waiters were exceptional, since the recession Holland America has cut down on its staff and you can tell especially in the dinning room because the waiters are forced to serve more people in the same amount of time which has been a problem on other Holland America Cruises. But not on the Ryndam our waiters made you feel like you were the only one that they had to wait on, which as nice. Also the dining room manager walked around to every table in the dining room every day to make sure everything was perfect and if it wasn't he would personally fix the problem and have a word with your dinning room stewards to be sure it never happened again. This was one of the reasons I think the dining room servers were so good! (It is nice to see the dinning room manager doing something rather than standing around doing nothing.)We ate in the Pinnacle Grill several times and it was perfect. The servers were very friendly and fast. The food was excellent it came out done the way you wanted it and it was just right to eat (not to hot not to cold). Also the head chef would come around to your table to make sure you were enjoying everything, which was a nice touch. I would really recommend eating in the pinnacle grill on the Ryndam.

Our Stateroom was very nice we had a Deluxe Veranda Suite which was well appointed the only word of warning for those who book a suite on the Ryndam is the Lido pool is right above the suites and if you book a suite under the pool you will hear the kids running back and forth and the staff at 5 a.m. when they move around the furniture to clean the pool deck. So book a suite all the way in the back or all the way in the front. Just look at the ship floor plan before you pick your room and use your best judgment and you will be fine.
