If you are considering a cruise there are better choices than Norwegian. Having cruised on several different lines I would recommend Cunard Carnival or Holland American rather than Norwegian. First the good. On a recent cruise to the Greek islands aboard the Norwegian Jade the entertainment was above par and the food varied from good to acceptable, never excellent. The ship was clean but rather worn an d dreary. Now for reality. Other than the cruise director and a particularly friendly and informative waiter at the fan tail bar, the staff was indifferent at best and generally rude. Norwegian appears to be operating on a shoe string with an insufficient service staff in the buffet area together with a failure to stock a wine from the wine list on the day of departure. For example, unlike Holland America, Norwegian only allows wine to be brought on board at embarkation with a $15 a bottle charge regardless of where the wine is consumed, cabin or otherwise. Local wines from the ports visited are confiscated and returned upon debarkation. Bad news for Coca Cola drinkers...only Pepsi products are available on board. Staff rudeness prevails from guest customer service personnel to cabin stewards. There are better cruise choices than Norwegian.
