We went on the Carnival Sensation July 17, 2011. The reason for our trip was our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last May and we promised her once she was done with all of her treatments we would go on a vacation. We were all pleasantly surprised about the ship. The embarkation process was easy, organized and fast, surprisingly!!! oUr luggage was to our room by 1:00 I believe. We all stayed on the Riviera deck with 3 oceanview rooms and one interior. They were all spacious enough and clean. The beds were comfy and we slept very well. There was a lot to do on the ship. We went to the pool, which was disappointing because it was so small. The kids were jumping into the pool all day long with no parents to stop them. They were annoying, but we still managed to hang out in there. The hot tubs were always full of teens. The food was okay. The buffet for lunch was pretty good, but not too much to pick from in the afternoon. Breakfast had lots of choices and things changed daily. Dinner in the dining room was just okay - 2 out of 4 dinners were actually very good. The entertainment was very good and kept everyone busy. There was always something going on, but you also had the choice to relax if you wanted to. We went to karaoke a few times because that's always funny! The adult only comedy show was very funny and entertaining as well! We saw a few shows with singing and dancing and enjoyed those too! We went to Freeport and Nassau and did on excursion at each. In Freeport we went to the local free beach and went on a banana boat ride... which was a blast!! We swam in the ocean, which was very pretty and clear blue. We ate lunch and returned to the boat after a little shopping. The next stop was Nassau, which was much cleaner and nicer. We got off the boat and went snorkeling. We went through a company at the port, and we saved $$ because we had 6 people and paid cash. It is worth it to ask if they discount for cash. That was fun, but only lasted about 45 minutes. We also went over to Atlantis to check it out. We walked around and saw The Dig. It was cool, but not what we expected. The hotel itself is beautiful! Overall, we were pleased. I am excited to go on another cruise! I don't know if we would go through Carnival again though... maybe next time will be more of an adult only cruise.
