There were nine of us traveling together, 4 adults, 5 daughters between us ranging from 14 - 20. We could only travel on select days and had to choose this Carnival ship. I have always heard and read 'party ship' and was quite nervous. I have traveled on two Royal Caribbean ships previously. As stated by others, The decor on the ship is quite flamboyant - where RC ships are neutral tones with lots of glass, this ship is dark and neon in a lot of areas. HOWEVER, we had a great time. Our room was clean with a wonderful balcony, the staff was amazing, the food was better than RC, the kids had a wonderful time. The ship is easy to maneuver and staying at the very front was enjoyable.
The passengers on the ship were a big mix of race and ages. We saw several family reunions and a couple of weddings. Kids were everywhere. My RC cruises consisted of mostly elderly cruisers. We enjoyed everyone we encountered. This is not a pretentious ship at all....... and some may want a little more 5 star than this ship offers.
I have been to Key West twice and don't care if I go again - basically it is a shopping stop. We took a Catamaran in Cozumel and snorkeled. We all enjoyed this activity.
We had the four cabins at the very front of the ship on the 8th floor. Two balcony cabins and two interior. Our cabins were clean and comfortable. The steward kept us in clean towels. We could feel a little rocking, but we felt it all over the ship. On the balcony you can see into the captains area where they actually control the ship. This was fun for us. We noticed as we walked down the halls that the rooms near elevators must have been hot because those areas were warmer. Our end of the ship was nice and cool. The lido deck is one floor up and easy to run get coffee or go back and forth to the pool. I would stay in this room again.
