We live in Vancouver so going to Alaska on a 7-day round-trip is a great and simple get-away to a floating hotel. This was our third time on Celebrity (twice on the Mercury-and now on the Century). The Century is an older ship but it is very well maintained; all common areas were very clean; public restrooms were very fresh and always spotless. Our cabin was a window cabin on the Main Deck #5; our bed was comfy and the shower spacious per Celebrity standards; it was very quiet in the hallway outside our cabin and we never encountered any distractions. Our cabin steward was friendly but never overbearing. The service throughout the ship was excellent; everyone was very polite and always offered a greeting upon passing. We chose the select dining so had different wait staff most days but all were professional and friendly. We tried the Murano Restaurant early on so as not to be overly stuffed (yet) and enjoyed the food so much, we booked it again for a second time. Overall, the food was very good. The buffet could have offered a few more vegetables but there was enough choice of everything so it was not a problem. We felt that the entertainment was outstanding. Each night something different but everything was entertaining and well presented. We found that all the shows, bands, entertainers, etc., were well chosen for our age group. Even the disco was great in that the music wasn't so loud that you could not stand it. There were a number of children on board but we never saw them; I think the ship's programs had them well entertained and they did not appear to get into any mischief or anyone's way. There were many activities on board; we only picked the ones that fit our time schedule and sounded interesting. We had done some of these before so skipped them this time, such as the galley tour which is interesting but is pretty much the same on every ship. It always amazes us how much food each voyage goes through. To offset the extra calories consumed, we visited the gym for a workout every second day. We found that around 4-5:30 p.m. there was hardly anyone there and the equipment was great so we got out workouts in and were therefore able to indulge in some extra treats. The only down side to the cruise was the rain. This has been a bad summer and we encountered pouring rain at every port and also during the trip. We were fortunate that we had a daring captain who got us very close to the Hubbard Glacier even through large chunks of ice and low cloud & fog. We witnessed the Glacier in the pouring rain and it was still spectacular. All in all, it was another great get-away to Alaska on Celebrity Cruises - Century.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

We chose a window cabin; it was spacious enough; lots of closet space. The greatest thing about Celebrity are the showers. You can actually turn around in them! No complaints about the cabin...a bit older due to ship age and slightly worn but clean & perfectly adequate.
