Overall, we had an excellent trip! We are husband, wife, 18 year old daughter and her friend (almost 18) who had a separate cabin next door.We stayed two nights in New Orleans and had a good time just wandering around, mostly Bourbon Street - shopping and enjoying the sights and food.Sunday morning we left the hotel (Ritz Carlton) and arrived at the port at 10:45. Used port parking and were glad we did - so easy. Then entire embarking process was simple, we were past cruisers so went in the latitudes line and were in group A. We checked in, had a short wait and were on the ship by 11:45.Food - we did not eat in any specialty restaurants and rarely ate at the buffet except for breakfast (great for that - same every day but it's breakfast - that is fine). We did have a couple snacks at the buffet and everything I tried was good - especially liked the soup! We never ate at Bier Garden but did see that they had mashed potatoes and gravy there and our daughter loved that. We ate at Blue Lagoon once and wish we had been hungry enough to eat there more. There weren't enough meals to try all the great food! We ate at the pool buffet on the last at sea day and it was wonderful - barbecued ribs, chicken, shrimp, corn - and much more. Most dinners we ate at Windows (tried Garden once but didn't care for it - claustrophobic, low ceilings, chairs too close and our service was not as good there). Dinners at Windows were always wonderful. Just a word of caution - they did strictly enforce the dress policy and turned anyone away wearing shorts - even ladies with dressy, long bermuda shorts and heels. They could eat at Garden but not Windows. My favorite meal was the prime rib and I liked all the beef choices. The fish (flounder?) served with gumbo is the meal I didn't order and wished I would have. Some dishes were deceiving - I thought I was ordering one thing and it was totally different when it arrived - but was always good. (beef stroganoff was more like an oriental stir fry over very long, wide noodles, not what I was familiar with as beef stroganoff). Service was always good and our table was usually visited by some kind of supervisor asking how the meal was. Loved the cooks walking through to the applause!Ports - will review in the port section but did not do any NCL excursions, arranged two on our own and just wandered the other two. One piece of advice - do not stress over the tender to Belize. I lined up at 7:00 am to be first in line, got tender number one which they called right at 8:00 - earlier than expected and couldn't find our entire party so ended up on #2 or #3? They never asked for the tickets and there was no line to get on. Coming back was just as simple.Entertainment - went to most of the shows and they were good. The acrobats were very good and Elements was fantastic - loved the end too with all the crew members. Husband went to Second City and said it was great. The guitarist and singer, Angel, is great but no one was at Henry's Pub to listen to him! He needs to replace the couple who were nowhere near as good as Angel. We were disappointed that karaoke was not held often, sometimes started very late (10:45) and was held in Hanry's Pub which was way too small. We would have liked to have seen karaoke held each night from around 7 - 10 in a nice large area - I think it would be well attended by families. Casino was OK - not kind to us but we didn't play much. We did do the $50 slot play for $25 and that was easy and gave us more to lose!Having one 18 year old and one almost 18 year old was more difficult that expected. They really did enforce the age rul in the casino and lounges and especially for drinking. I am not complaining at all but just thought they would be lax on that and they are not.Guest services - never a line and so helpful and kind. For some reason, it seemed the cards were very sensitive and demagnetized often (I had to get mine redone 3 times - once I knew was my fault for using a clutch purse with a magnet but after that I was extremely careful and it still stopped working). Fortunately, lines were short or non existent and the staff there were very accommodating and fixed the problem easily and quickly. In fact, all crew members were amazing - who wouldn't love Mr. Naughty Naughty and his pals? Put a smile on everyone's face. (the only two crew members that were not friendly and helpful were the ones working the t-shirt sale on the last day)Debarkation was the easiest ever and we were actually leaving the parking garage at 7:55 and headed home (self embarked - so simple and quick).Overall, it was a wonderful trip, a great time, food was excellent, crew was fantastic, entertainment very good. The only negative is that it is a small ship but we knew that when we booked. Some prefer small but we would rather go larger for the next one.
