Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

This was our first time on Celebrity and after reading all the great reviews, I must say we were disappointed. There were 8 of us in 4 different cabins. Loved and highly recommend a balcony cabin.

Embarkation was quick and simple at Cape Liberty in Bayonne, no lines.

The food in the dining room was just okay, definitely have had better on Holland America and even Carnival. The buffet food was actually decent. Our dinner waiter was not as personable as many of the other employees like the assistant waiter, the beverage waiters and our room stewards who were very accommodating. The Summit, although clean, is old and worn, from the curtains to the bedspreads and the rugs were pretty gross as well. A wheelchair was requested for my mother via phone with Celebrity ahead of time and we were assured that one would be in her cabin when we arrived, it wasn't. The balconies were rusting and the railings were half scraped. The hairdryer was horrible and the soap dispenser in the shower did not work. The indoor therapy pool area had such a strong odor of chlorine that it was hard to breath and burned our eyes. One day the smell in that area was of diesel fuel, sickening my mother. The therapy pool itself had a film of scum in the area where you enter the pool. The outdoor pools were extremely crowded and chairs were hard to find. There was nothing special or beautiful about the ship as we have seen on other ships. The band was good but played the same music night and day. The nightly shows, besides being at inconvenient times most of the nights were boring for the most part. Other ships we've been on have 2 seatings for the shows to accommodate both the early and late diners. There are 6:30 and 8:30 dinner seatings and the shows were 7 and 9! The deck party was fun.
