Landed at Heathrow and traveled to Harwich where we stayed overnight. Met the two couples we sailed with at the pier. Embarkation was friendly and fast. Any information about the ports is fully covered in the "Ports" area of the site. Obviously, St Petersburg is the highlight. As a British passenger remarked this is an ABC cruise-Another Bloody Church. The difference is that most of the churches in this area are Lutheran. By the way, about a third of the passengers are British and they are the most courteous shipmates. Having a large British contingent means that there are some very strange, that is to us, choices at breakfast and lunch. Why anyone would eat food you find at home while on vacation is a mystery. The MDR food is the same as on all our previous RCI trips-some highs, some lows, but all presented well. We ate twice in Portofino and once in Chops. These three meals were excellent and memorable and a wonderful change in routine. We were very lucky with the weather. The Captain said that our cruise was the first in his memory that didn't have rain. The service and friendliness of the crew was first-rate. Getting off the ship was a breeze. You dock at 4 AM and everyone is off by 8:30. The buses to Heathrow which you arrange for on board are waiting on the pier. It's a three hour ride because of traffic but you are dropped off right at the terminal and there are free luggage carts to transport your bags. So all in all it was a great trip. If you want warm, sunny weather with beautiful scenery, do the Barcelona to Greek Islands cruise. This cruise has cool weather, interesting ports, great service, and of course, St. Petersburg.
