Embarked on this cruise at Fremantle, Western AustraliaEmbarkation was easy and well organised, I had been on the Sun Princess before 3 years ago. This is a very easy review, from the moment i boarded until i got off everything was just fantastic, particularly after the existing cruise director got off in Singapore and a new one Mark got on board. He transformed the entertainment.Let me get the negative side out of the way first !Very simple, in its day the Sun Princess was a great ship .However, it is in great need of some work. It was tired, Cabins are small compared to newer ships, balconies are very small and it always seemed crowded. Now for the good side, The ship was very well run,the food was fantastic, the staff were fantastic and i even saw some providing help to some disabled people like getting food for them, assisting them in the pool when the ship was in port. The tours were well organised and i felt ,value for money. The entertainment was great once Mark got on board. The staff appeared relaxed, happy and focused on providing everything for a great holiday.I spoke to many staff and they all loved working for Princess. I also got some very unusual feedback regarding the Captain and Officers.Without exception there was a great respect for the Captain and officers of this ship.Captain Craig Street was in command and the staff loved him. One staff member indicated that he was the first to go down and have meals with the staff and treats everyone with respect. This is a killer combination for a well run business no matter what it is.I had a great time and enjoyed every minute.Sadly on my return i noticed on the Princess web site that as from January 2012 smoking will not be permitted on balconies.I am a smoker and will not be doing another Princess cruise.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Had a Balcony cabin deck 11 midship

Cabin is small, Balcony is small compared to more modern ships

Deck 11 is below the pool deck and often had noise from people dragging chairs and tables over the deck.

Bathroom is tiny and you can hardly get 1 person in it. Closets are reasonable with good draw space

There is a small fridge, Flat screen TV and Phone and Hair Dryer.

You can store suitcase's under the bed.

The balcony has 2 chairs and small table but you must sit sideways as to small to sit front on
