Embarkation: the process of embarkation at the newly built cruise terminal in Malaga, Spain was one of the best we experienced. It was easy, convenient and fast; it took us no more than 20 minutes to complete the whole process. This is our 13th cruise, and our 4th with RCCL. They are our favorite cruise line and even though we were disappointed with AOS, we will continue to cruise with RCCL. We found AOS to be a below average ship for the RCCL line. The ship is beautiful, but it is starting to show some wear; carpet areas are in need of replacing; new flat tv's would be nice; some of the art on the walls need to be replaced as well. The only show that we were impressed by was the ice skating show. The cruise director (who seemed to be "phoning it in") and his staff did poorly in our opinion. They scheduled the adult scavenger hunt game in one of the small lounges instead of doing it at the Studio A like Liberty of the Seas does. It was a complete disappointment, not only with us, but with many other passengers as well. There was not enough seating for everyone and only a small number of selected tables got to directly participate. We left after only 10 minutes. Many other passengers had already left, or were in the process of leaving. The pursers desk staff was not pleasant to deal with; we went to get some information a couple of times and was surprise by the unbelievable rudeness of the staff. The schedule of the windjammer cafe also needs to be revised. On most port days, you need to be back on board by 5:30, but if you do get back at this time you will be surprise to find out that the only place open to get a snack, especially if your dinning time is 9:30 pm, is the small pizza place on the promenade. This small cafe only has water or hot coffee to go with your nothing special pizza or sandwiches. On formal night, forget the traditional lobster, as you only get a shrimp dish instead. The food overall was generally below average when compared to other cruises. The DJ at the Catacombs bar was the best we've experienced thus far. He played very good music every night, and obviously the word got around, because it had a very good crowd. Many other DJs seem to forget that their job is to simply play music that the majority of the crowd will enjoy dancing to. The itinerary is amazing, our cabin steward and the staff at the dinning room was great. Although we had a great trip due to the itinerary (our first visit to Europe), the AOS needs to be updated in many areas soon.

Cabin Review

Cabin
Balcony cabin on Deck 7, closet space was great; we had a very good number of hangers, our empty luggage fit perfectly under the bed; good amount of space in bathroom, comfortable bed.
