This cruise was one of 3 cruises that we did in the month of May 2011 as part of a holiday to the USA from Australia. The other 2 cruises were on board the Carnival Splendor & RCI's Allure of the Seas. Both of the other cruises were 7 nights in Comparison to the Sky's 4 nights, & both of the other 2 ships were much bigger, newer & had much more facilities etc, especially on the Allure. I must confess, we were looking forward to the other 2 cruises much more than the Sky as the Sky cruise was just another cruise we were taking to fill up some time on our holiday & we thought it would be a great idea to give an NCL cruise a go & to also check out the Bahamas. How glad my wife & I are today that we actually did this cruise, we had so much fun! I wouldn't say it was the best of the three cruises but we did have a really great time. The evening before the cruise we flew into Miami airport from Lax & stayed at the Conrad Miami Hotel. This was a great choice of hotel. It was modern, trendy & comfortable. The hotel had a great rooftop pool, & the surrounding area seemed quite safe. We got to the port of Miami at around 12 midday. The lines to check in seemed a bit slow but not too slow, we were onboard soon enough. We went straight up to the pool deck where the chefs were cooking up a very tasty poolside BBQ. We then spent a lot of the afternoon venturing around & exploring the ship. It was a bit smaller & older than the type of ships we had been used to cruising on over the last couple of years, however everything looked clean & neat & nothing was too far to walk to. We had a midship inside cabin on deck 9. The bathroom was fairly small but the bedroom area was ok & a little larger than I was expecting. We really didn't spend a lot of time in there anyway. Our cabin steward was very good. Our room was always well maintained & he was very friendly yet unobtrusive. Ports: Freeport. We took a shared shuttle into the main town (Port Lucaya) area. We spent some time down at the beach & then walked around the local shops & markets. We both enjoyed a fresh Strawberry Daiquiri served in a coconut at the Rum Rummer bar which was the best we have ever had.Great Stirrup Cay: We decided to stay on board that day & enjoy a nice sea day!Nassau: We really enjoyed this port of call. Started the day with a self guided walk through the old parts of town, then spent time at a local beach & then finished the day with shopping. Food: Loved the poolside BBQ's & buffets & we enjoyed the semi outdoor buffet at the back of the ship better than the internal one. The only specialty restaurant we tried was the the Italian one. The food was tasty & the servings very large. We went to the aft main dining room a couple of times & it was ok. Food was fine & we had a great window side table. We are big fans of the freestyle dining concept. Entertainment: I thought the quality of the entertainers was good however it would have been good to see a larger cast of performers to give the shows that extra bit of spice! The seats in the main theatre were placed very close together & it made it very hard to get in & out of your seat & the disco seemed to be in an odd part of the ship. The outdoor white hot party was pretty good fun. Overall, the size & layout of this ship made it very easy to meet new friends & have a great time. This cruise met & exceeded our expectations. We had a lot of great laughs, saw some great ports & met some really nice people along the way.
