We chose this cruise primarily because of the ports scheduled to be visited. Although there was one last minute change, we were not disappointed.

Embarkation at Civitavechia was flawless, and there was no line or waiting when we arrived at 12:30PM. We were literally on the ship within 2 minutes. After a brief stop at our cabin (#8048) we went for lunch in the main Dining Room. By the time that finished and we returned to our room, our luggage had arrived (along with an extra piece we handed over to our steward as he introduced himself.

Our first stop was supposed to be Portofino but rough seas in the harbor prevented tender service so we stopped at Genoa instead. Perhaps because of the last minute change, we had very little information about the city, and there were no ship tours available except for a last minute walking tour. We took the hop on/off tourist bus for an overview of the city, which did not seem overly interesting.
