We were pleasantly surprised on embarkation in NYC, it went very smoothly.

It was our first time with Norwegian Cruise Lines aboard the Gem. The exterior of the ship painted in colored gem shapes told us there is a party going on.

The ship was a little hard to get around because some halls don't go all the way though the floor. So you have to go up to get down. knowing that , read the signs . NCL has signs all over the ship. Next the cabin, obstructed view a life boat outside the window. It did not matter to us, we were only in the room to change and sleep. Our stateroom steward Jamie was very helpful, friendly, and kept our room spotless. The bed is comfy , aside from being small it was hard to get in and out of the bathroom without announcing it. The bathroom door opens to the vanity and closet and it is as wide as the small hall. They should have put the vanity by the window. The cabin did not have lighting good enough to put on your makeup. There are only 2 110 outlets and one three prong outlets.
