Princess did it again! Another wonderful cruise, our eleventh in total. We generally cruise with Princess as we find them to be very "consistent" with everything that's important. There are no ugly surprises here. We have always enjoyed the cabin stewards, and the wait staff in the dining rooms, and for the most part all of the crew with one tiny complaint several years ago with the "attitude" from a fellow at the Purser's Desk. I guess he was having a bad day. When I read and hear about the many, many complaints about the food on cruise ships in general, I always wonder what kind of food or service do these complainers get at their local restaurants or in their own homes for goodness sakes!?? All things considered, ie: the sit down dinner with nice linens every evening, the lodging, the destinations, the crew, the magical experience of waking up to a new port every day, the beautiful ships that are always in good repair, and the great bargain prices Princess offers, I am thinking that these complainers are probably like that with everyone and everything in life. Get over it! Cruising is a good deal!!This was our first cruise to Hawaii. We go to Hawaii fairly often and take a condo for a month or so, but this time we wanted to explore the other islands. We took only one of the ships shore excursions in Hilo. The beautiful tour guide took us to magical places, caves, and a wonderful lagoon for a walk through the warm waters there. Some of us went swimming. We got pretty wet, almost to the waist, but we were advised that this could happen beforehand. We stopped at a lovely park and were provided with refreshments & snack. In Kauai and Maui we were picked up by friends who were vacationing there and we toured both of those islands. Honolulu was a personal disappointment for us. We had not been there for over 30 years, and the "progress" if that's what one would call it, was quite a shock. Gone is the very long, beautiful walk along the ocean in front of the large beautiful hotels. Breakwaters have cut off the beach in many, many places, and during your beach walk, you have to go from the beach, up to the city sidewalk, and back down to the beach again because of these ugly dividers. The city was very crowded and reminded us of New York City with heavy traffic everywhere. The only nice thing to see again was of course, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel standing there in it's magnificence, and yes, Diamond Head is still there. We hope no one ruins that! The weather was "iffy".....definitely not horrible, on port days, and rather rocky and windy for the crossing both ways. Quesyrah! We are fortunate not to get sea sick. Most passengers seemed to handle the movement quite well. We enjoyed the cruise as we usually do, but this one wasn't our favourite. Again, we knew about the sea days, and we generally enjoy those, but after having done it, we decided there were too many for us.The entertainment is always enjoyable, whether it be the Wheelhouse, the Vista Lounge or the Princess Theatre. Because we have cruised several times, we find that we are gravitating more and more to the Wheelhouse for after dinner drinks, dancing and meeting with friends other than going to the production shows. The theatre is always so full and you have to get there so early to get a seat. If the weather is good, we always enjoy walking off our yummy desserts around the promenade a couple of times. Cruising is not about rushing to get a seat in the theatre. We just love cruising and Princess is our first choice. We have already booked 2 future cruises with them. One to Mexico in January/2012 and our second Transatlantic for 31 days in September/2012. We cannot think of any other way to travel other than cruising. I always feel like a Princess.I must throw a huge bouquet to Princess in their handling of a serious medical issue with two passengers on our way back to Los Angeles. They "kicked it up a notch" and we arrived in Ensenada 6 - 7 hours earlier than planned so that these people could be air lifted to the nearest hospital. I was told they had to re fuel in Ensenada rather then the last stop in LA because more fuel is consumed when you kick it up a notch.!! We are so fortunate to live in a country where there is such a premium on human life.

Cabin Review

cabins usually satisfactory - we seldom take a "guarantee" cabin...we did it once, and ended up under the galley in the kitchen....we could hear the carts rolling back & forth...annoying!
