We just returned from a great trip to Bermuda aboard the beautiful Norwegian Gem. Here's our background: Two of us went - me, 44 and DW, 45. This was our fifth cruise, all on NCL. Previous cruises were on the NCL Southward (1994), Pride of America, NCL Spirit, and NCL Sky. This trip was to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We booked our trip through one of the travel agencies recommended by CruiseCritic. By using this particular agency, we received a $200 onboard credit. We were in cabin 10543, a standard inside cabin on deck 10 on the port side towards the front of the ship. This would have been a great destination to have a balcony, but it just wasn't in the budget this time.

We flew from Salt Lake on American Airlines and had no drama or problems on Saturday, May 7th. We flew into LaGuardia airport, and took a cab to the Marriott Residence Inn on 39th Street and 6th Avenue in the Times Square area. The cab ride was about $30 including tip. The Residence Inn was great. The room was large and had a small kitchen, sitting area, and bedroom area. I highly recommend this as a great place to start your vacation.

On Sunday, May 8th, we took a cab from our hotel to the ship at about 11:30 AM. The taxi ride was $12 including tip. We gave our bags to one of the many porters and then proceeded to the check-in area. Check-in was quick and painless. We were given a boarding card and we were directed to a waiting area until our number was called. We were on the ship by about 12:30 and we went to the Grand Pacific dining room for lunch. Most of the other passengers must have gone to the buffet, because there were less than 20 of us in the huge, beautiful dining room. Our room was ready at about 2:00, and we went to our room to check it out.

Cabin Review

Family Inside

Cabin I1

Plenty of storage, small sleeping area, big bathroom. It was fine for two, would be cramped for a family.
