I was pretty nervous about the dream after reading previous reviews. And for the most part, I was pleasantly surprised. There were only a couple of things that I was unhappy with. Neither issue ruined my cruise though.Deck #5. I always get a balcony when I cruise...and love nothing more than sitting outside staring at the water. We booked a balcony on deck 6. It wasn't until AFTER booking that I learned of the layout of deck 5. Though it isn't AWFUL, it is definately a huge disappointment. I know I sound wishy washy on the subject, but it wasn't as horrible as I expected, it just isn't the same as staring straight down into the water. People and lights weren't distracting, and my boyfriend (who was a cruise virgin) didn't mind it at all. I will probably try to avoid ships with this feature in the future...old habits die hard I suppose, however, that being said....if it were the right price, and the right itinerary, I'd sail the dream again.I'm not a picky eater at all. I have an "iron gut" and never get sick. I've always loved Carnival's food. That being said...there were only a couple of times that I ate something and said "Wow...this is really good". Compared to all of the other Carnival cruises I have been on, the food was definately sub par. I am used to ALL of the food being excellent, and it definately was not on the Dream. Most everything I ate made me sick to my stomach as well. The rest of my party never had any issues...but I ate tums/pepcid every night. I NEVER eat Tums or Pepcid....so for what it's worth...I didn't really enjoy the food, I never went hungry, but I didn't have the "YUM" factor.Another crazy thing was the availability of other dinning options. Yes they have a pasta bar, a sushi bar, an indian station, burgers, etc....BUT the times these places are open are just so unpredictable. A couple of nights the sushi bar wasn't even open. The indian station (Tandori) had EXCELLENT food...but was only open for lunch:( Even the burger station isn't open as long/often as it has been on other ships. The Dream staff members were all really great! The room steward, Jose, was EXCELLENT...probably the best I've ever had. And our waiter (anytime dinning), Shohpop (sp) was ALWAYS smiling...he was one of the better waiters I've had. Our cruise director, Butch, was REALLY genuinely very nice. The future cruise credit guy either is very fake, or was having a bad day on the day that we went to book our FCC. He is SO nice in all of the public sessions, yet in person, we found him to be not so helpful or friendly....like I said, it could of been him having a bad day, I'm not sure. As for the "long lines"....they were only seen once during this trip. I believe it was the afternoon we were in Belize....the Lido deck had CRAZY long lines at the buffet. Other wise, I genuinely don't understand where people come up with these "long line" complaints. Even the picture taking lines on formal night were VERY short. I asked a couple of the staff members, who confirmed that our ship was sailing full. The lines were never an issue...but we did take the stairs quiet often (personal choice). The water slides were a lot of fun...as was the mini golf. We thought they shut down the mini golf much to early in the day (6pm!)The movie selection, both in cabin, and on the Big Screen on the lido deck was pretty bad. On cruises past, I enjoyed a quiet night on the deck with my beach towel watching a movie...there wasn't a single movie of interest playing during this cruise:(Getting on and off at the ports was never a problem. In Cozumel, we went downtown and did some shopping, had lunch and explored. In Belize, we did pretty much the same.Roatan was a private driver from Victor Bodden tours. I've used them before several years ago, and we had a GREAT time as expected. None of us have ever zip lined, and the set up a Victors house was a great first experience! Our zipline guide, Alex was SUPER nice and reassuring!!! We spent some time snorkeling in the West Bay Beach area. And some of our group did some shopping there. We had enough time to explore the port on our return to the ship. I believe The driver cost us $25pp. Ziplining was $45pp. The snorkel equipment was $10pp. This was an amazing day and Victor will customize your tour to include the things that your group wants to do. If you're headed to Roatan....this tour is worth every penny!Costa Maya was another Favorite. It was all of our first time there. We rented a golf cart and went to Muahal(sp). The boardwalk set up is nice, the prices of things seemed reasonable. But the peddlers were the WORST I have EVER, EVER seen!!!!! We hopped back in the golf cart and drove farther away from the ship and Muahalal and THAT was amazing. We stopped and hung out on a private beach....literally it was just my group....we found conch shells and had a blast being all alone on a private beach! It was great. DEFINATELY rent a golf cart and explore if you get to port in Costa Maya. This was a GREAT day and I'd really like to go back some day!Overall, I'd recommend the Dream to friends/family. I thought it was a little pricey compared to other cruises, but I guess it's because the ship is newer. A few minor annoyances didn't damage my cruise experience. My feeling is that if you go on a cruise and have a miserable time...then it's you're very own fault!!!!Happy Cruising!!!
