We drove to Baltimore the day before from PA and stayed at the Berkshire Suites which gave us free parking for the cruise. We enjoyed the free welcome cocktail party with two free drinks and snacks at the Berkshire Suites the night before. We walked to the Inner Harbor and had time to tour 3 of the 4 ships at the Harbor, and found that very interesting. The hotel room was dated, our ac did not work, but the bed was clean and comfy and it was quiet since it faced another building and an alley. We walked to dinner at the delicious M and S Grill, and also enjoyed the easy access to a corner CVS drugstore and a nice indoor shopping mall. After a free breakfast at the hotel, we enjoyed free van transportation to the port on Saturday morning, arriving around 11:30. Security took us a bit longer than we expected since my husband was unknowingly carrying a large cooking knife in a side zippered pocket from a trip to my sister's in Feb. He was embarrassed when they finally found it and he had to explain why he was carrying it. At least security is on their toes! They also confiscated my opened water bottle, but the three water bottles in my checked luggage went through without issues. We enjoyed our first lunch at the Windjammer Cafe with another couple who traveled with us. This first lunch was extremely crowded, but we were lucky to have found a table. The cabins were ready about 1:30, and we had cabin 4058. It is an outside cabin and seemed smaller than a similar cabin on the Vision of the Seas we had a few years ago. It really irked me that a large portion of the small desk in taken up with RCCLs "mini bar" of 4 large bottles of water, six cans of pop, and a large package of some kind of biscuits. We asked to have them removed, but they won't remove them, so I hid a few of the items in the mirrored cabinet above the desk(and got billed for a bottle of water which the bar inspector did not find on the last day). They did remove the charge right before we disembarked. Anyhow, the bathroom was the usual tiny one, and the only complaint we had was a persistent odor from the toilet, not really strong, but just there. A stronger version of this sewage odor permeated the fourth floor cabin hallways especially on the first and last day. Our cabin stewardess Tanya, was very sweet and spoke perfect English. The cabin floor could have been cleaner, but I do think that the carpeting is so flat and worn that there is not much they can do. I had to clean out the drawers before I could use them as there were hairs and other evidence of previous cruisers in them. The bed was showing some sagging but was comfortable. The pillows were so hard I was really glad I had stuffed my down pillow in a bag and brought it with me. Two BIG positives about the cabin were that it was very quiet and also it did not have bedbugs! The ship seemed very crowded in all of the public areas except for the smoky top floor bar, The Viking Crown, which had good service and great views. Its unfortunate that they cater to smokers on this ship. The Casino also allowed smoking except on the formal night, making it unpleasant for nonsmokers. As another reviewer reported, there was a wide mix of people on this cruise, and there were no real problems with the people. We had MY TIME DINING and after getting a wonderful table by a window the first night, with the two best waiters - Serdar Erden and Apolinario Adam, we asked and were assigned this table for the entire cruise at 6:15. The food in the main dining room was very good to excellent. The tiger prawns on the last night were not a good choice, nor was the tiny lobster. The chef made me special dairy free attractive and delicious deserts every night after I casually mentioned my lactose intolerance. The shows we saw were all above par, especially the comedian the first night, and the production show on the fourth night. That 4th night the seas were so rough that several of the dancers stumbled, one fell down, and the singer could not come out for the final curtain call(after she had wowed us all with her singing talent) because she was so seasick. We arrived in Bermuda around 11AM on Monday morning, and did not disembark for an hour. We were not sure what to do so we hired a local cab driver, Lewis Foggo, who took all four of us in his beige Mitsubishi Van for a five hour tour of the entire island. Although he did not have the blue flag or emblem indicating that he was a government approved tour guide taxi, he was EXCELLENT. I sat up front with him and enjoyed hearing all about his native island. He took us the few places we suggested and added a few stops of his own choosing. We climbed the Cobbs Hill Lighthouse, stopped at the smallest drawbridge, stopped in St. George for about 45 minutes to shop, and stopped at several nice beaches, including Jobson's Cove, a tiny coved beach with big rock formations. We loved the tour, but it flew by so fast and then we had to return to the ship to have dinner. It would not have done us any good to go back onshore after dinner since all of the shops closed down at 5. The second morning in Bermuda went by so fast since all we had time to do was walk into Nelson's Dockyard and do a bit of shopping. Weather in Bermuda was in the high 60s and sunny, with a lot of wind. The ship left Bermuda around 1:30, and as soon as we were out of those gorgeous blue waters we hit the Atlantic ocean waves. It was so bad that they had seasick paper bags on all of the floors at the end of the stairs. We had to hang onto whatever we could to walk safely. Luckily none of us got sick, but my husband was feeling a bit nauseated. Disembarkation after a final breakfast in the dining room was accomplished without too much of a fuss. My husband did not like this ship or the cruise itself, but I had a great time and liked it overall. I would love to return to Bermuda for a longer stay as it was the prettiest location I think we have ever visited.

Cabin Review

4058 - no bedbugs, very good soundproofing or it was just a quiet location, worn dirty carpeting, comfortable bed, small closet with annoying doors, small drawers, limited counter space thanks to their mandatory "mini bar", terrible hard pillows, and in need of a complete refurbishment.
