Kudo's to RCI's Freedom

Sail Date: May 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral (Orlando)
This was our first cruise of the Freedom of the Seas (FOS) and we found all services, food, entertainment and crew to be much improved from our last trip on the Navigator. From embarkation to disembarkation, our every encounter with staff was a pleasure and the cleanliness of the terminal and the entire ship was evidence of attention to detail.

Our food service was slow on 2 nights and trying to order a cocktail in the dining room was frustrating. The waiter would ask if you would like something to drink and then had to get someone else to bring it. It's better to get your libation in one of the bars first and take it to the dining room. The food was very good and cooked and served just as requested and my allergy to onions was closely monitored.

The aerial show with Agnes & Peter, the ice show, the Nelson Brother's, the comedian Craig Carmean and of course, our cruise director, were all first class. All in all, there were more fun things to see & do then More time but that's always the case so we're going to book longer cruises in the future.

The excursion in Labadee was enjoyable as always but too short.

We're already planning our next RCI adventures and hope someday the Mexican Riviera cruises will be back. Less

Cabin review: E27638 Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Perfect location for us by the library. We wish smoking wasn't allowed on the cabin balconies. The people in the next cabin forced us to keep our balcony door closed and limited our breakfast time on the balcony because of their incessant smoking. The loose, banging panel on the balcony was fixed promptly. Requested extra hangers were provided promptly.

Port and Shore Excursions

We booked the Passion Island (CZ20) excursion again and it has been repaired after the hurricane and is more beautiful then ever. It never disappoints and there were a lot of shady spots available. The included lunch was yummy and juice, pop, beer and water are complimentary. Just wish this outing was longer There is quite a bit of walking on sand that can be difficult for some people but the swimming was very easy with soft sand.

We booked the 2 hour FY08 "Buggy Ride" which turned out to be a 20 person tram ride. We thought it was going to be a 2 person buggy ride like we had in San Juan. The guide and drivers were very friendly but the route was dismal and we agreed we wouldn't do that again and frankly would probably stay on the ship next time.

The Stingray City Sandbar Swim (GC89) was great fun but we forgot how long the bus ride was to the boat that takes you out to the sand bar. The cost of the tour was a good value for the amount of fun and interaction with the rays. Individual pictures are NOT available for purchase.
