We previously sailed ENCHANTMENT, 12/2010. That cruise was somewhat disappointing, so we thought to give the ship a 2nd chance. Glad we did - completely different cruise. The reason for this was simple - it was the passenger mix. This spring cruise had lots of 1st time cruisers and many under the age of 18, including a large group of Massachusetts High School students, on board for a musical competition. They were some of the most well behaved teenagers. Other children (under the age of 14) enjoyed Adventure Ocean. Overall, there were less crowds in the adult venues, certainly less smoke. We are becoming fans of the Windjammer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A small tip, with each bit of service provided, goes a long way up there. One night, we were a little late with our arrival and disappointed to see all the tables filled. Quickly, one of our fav servers greeted us to escort us to a table she had "reserved" for us, complete with our drinks and silverware awaiting us. Bigger tip, that night (smile). So, if you want to leave your jacket and tie at home, consider the casual venue of the Windjammer, on the ENCHANTMENT. Be sure to brings lots of one dollar bills, if you want a little xtra service. The service in the WJ is always great, with or without a gratuity. Our biggest complaint about MDR is the intrusion by the photographers. I wish there was a way to communicate "no, we don't want pictures" - even telling them, "no", they persist. Also, DRESS CODE is not enforced, though men are requested to remove their hats. Cabin 7545, was sandwiched between two service rooms, so expect some noise. Not a bad location - close to the elevators and on the same floor as the Library and WiFi. All things considered, it was a pretty quiet location (other than the service rooms where noise was intermittent, but nothing of which we'd complain). The mirror in the bath was very much in disrepair, but otherwise the cabin was fine for 5nts. No refrigerator, but good storage. Drawers and TV flew in and out whilst underway and in choppy seas. Duck tape would have helped; alas, we forgot it. No pillow chocolates. Towel animals, nightly. Robes provided, upon request. Bedding comfortable - separating the beds would have prevented one of us from having to "climb" out of bed. Cabin Steward: EXCELLENT!DIAMOND EXPERIENCE:Our WelcomeGifts were 2 small bottles of water and a box with cookies, nuts, and dried fruit. Nice touch and "usable".The DIAMOND Nightly Event was small - less than 20 Diamonds on board, so we were told. Usually we counted 12 heads, nightly. The server went above EXCELLENT, keeping us happy because there were so few of us. The few of us that showed up ended up making a party for ourselves, the last night. Would have ended up being a good group had the cruise been longer. We met in front of the Viking Crown, which was not a great view, as we faced the smoke stack. The DIAMOND BREAKFAST was as expected, but there, too, we were only 2 or 3 tables, each morning. Service on the cappuccinos was pretty speedy, but oy vey! those pancakes and French toast are not edible. It's disappointing not to be able to get fresh waffles on this ship - there is no waffle station. But they do a good job on the omelets, both in the dining room - also, WJ. I have to say the OJ in the dining room did taste like fresh squeezed - it sells for $2.50/glass and is "pushed" hard, in the morning. BALTIMORE:Embarkation: we arrived in the parking lot at 10:30a.m. and had to sit for a good half hour before we were permitted to proceed to luggage drop off and parking. Once we did that, it was an easy walk to the processing and then came the new walkway. A word about the NEW WALKWAY: it is an intense walk, up to Deck Four. Very nice, but you want to not be mobility-limited to walk this climb. Debarkation: we were first off, after the self assist - collected our bags, and were in the car, easy to I-95 by 8:30a.m. WooHoo! The Baltimore Port Staff are courteous and very helpful - always with a smile - $15/nt is worth it!
