We have just returned from a 8 day cruise on Boudicca.Embarcation port Liverpool. The cruise was wonderful.Staff could not do enough for us. The problems started when we returned to our port of embarkation. We were informed that Boudicca was unable to dock due to high winds.I was on deck at this time and have to admit to feeling frightened as the vessel was listing quite dramatically.I have to agree with the decision not to attempt to enter the lock at that time. The captain informed passengers at just after midnight that we would try again in 8 hours time. The following morning I looked on the cabin television only to see that our vessel was aproaching Dublin! The captain informed us that we were docking in Dublin as this was the nearest available port. No tugs in Hoyhead. The passengers to whom I spoke thought that Boudicca had diverted to Dublin becouse the vessels NEXT CRUISE WAS LEAVING FROM THERE! To the credit of Fred Olsen staff were most helpful. We travelled home via Holyhead on Stena Line ferries. We were accomodated in a most luxurious 5 star hotel, with meals and a show. Thank you Mr Olsen! Most passengers travelled back via air .We arrived back in Liverpool on the Monday afternoon having been delayed by 30 hours. Will we travel with Fred Olsen again? Yes .However we would not travel from Liverpool again. There are rumours of a disagreement between Fred Olsen and the port of Liverpool. Next year Fred has no sailings from the port! We were throughly exhausted upon return home.
