We are a couple in their 40s and this was our 5th cruise with RC and 2nd with the explorer of the sea. We had a great time!Embarkation: We arrived at Bayonne at 12.30 and were in the ship at 1.15pm. A bit more complex than in other ports with having to take the bus to the ship.Cabin: a big disappointment. We booked a superior balcony cabin. We were in deck 6. The room was fine but the balcony was small and not made of glass. So we just had a small opening. No chair to lay down. We tried to change but no other balcony room available. It made the experience a bit negative. Dining: main dining room for dinner. Food was very good, some evening the choice was average. The Windjammer was good for dinner with the hibach and asian noodles prepared in front of youspa: the service was good. However check your bill before you pay because while they recommend you products they assume you will buy then and add them to your bill. That made the experience less enjoyable to have to start an argument at the end. It is almost a scamPorts: we don t use the RC excursions. too expensive for what you getSan Juan: we had a nice stroll in old San Juan then a dinner in a local restaurant with great mojitos and pina colada. We also tried the cocktails in the restaurant recommended in the RC leaflet. supposed to be the birthplace of pina colada. What a joke! good maybe compared to the US but not to the local portorican placesSt Thomas; took the bus (2$) to a beach frequented by locals. Had a great time there and then to Charlotte. Great 'lime in the coconut" cocktail in an outside bar in the small streets. The best!Samana: we negotiated a price to go Las galeras. It is a beautiful beach. We spent the day thereLabadee; definitely updgraded since 4 years ago.Nice beaches.Shows; loved the 3 Tenors and luminescence show. The production singing and dancing was boring. The comedian Selim was good. Ice show was greatship; the last cruise was in the freedom so the explorer seemed small and not as exciting.Overall we had a good time.
