This review is for the Eastern Caribbean itinerary for April 24-May 1. We are fifty-something multi-line experienced cruisers who live within driving distance of the port. We had an Ocean Suite and also took our adult daughter and her partner in an inside. We were dropped at the port. Since we had an Ocean Suite and our daughter's cabin was using our same credit card account, we were all able to use the VIP boarding process, which was very smooth. We were on-board with our pool-side drinks and burgers less than an hour after being dropped off at 12:30.Our Ocean Suite cabin was ready by 1:30 as promised. The cabin was extremely roomy for the price with 3 closets and LOTS of storage. The balcony had 2 chairs, a lounger, and a table. A separate dressing area was very convenient for the wife. The 2 sink bathroom was roomy and clean. The Jacuzzi tub was a bit narrow for us as spreading seniors, but all in all it was the nicest cabin we've had. Our steward, David, was thorough and efficient.Ship decor was extremely interesting. One could certainly NOT call it muted or conservative, but the impressionist art theme throughout was well imagined. The 2-level dining rooms felt spacious and the show room had plenty of seating. There was never a problem getting a seat on the decks outside during the day.We chose early fixed dining. We had a wonderful table for 4 in the Monet dining room looking out the windows in the rear. Our dining staff headed by Kormang was excellent. After only one meal, they had everything waiting as we liked it every night. Dinner food was excellent, although diluting the lobster with shrimp or steak with a side of short ribs evidenced cost cutting attempts. We just ordered extra as we felt we wanted. The dining atmosphere was lighter hearted than Princess, for example, but not as loud and overbearing as our previous Carnival cruises. Dress on Elegant Nights was mostly appropriate to the dress code.We ate lunch in the dining room most sea days, with the food and service mostly excellent. Burgers by the pool were OK. The lunch buffet was uninteresting. We didn't try the pizza or other noon options. We ate breakfasts on the Lido and in the dining room. Breakfast is Carnival's weakness. Not much variety of breads or rolls. No fixed-to-order eggs, omelets, or waffles in or near the buffet. Poorly prepared eggs in the dining room.On-board entertainment quality varied wildly. Comedy shows are a major theme on this ship. Mutsy and the other comedians we saw were hilarious. The production shows were average. There were some nights where things like laser tag were the only thing happening in the main show room. We found this odd. Music around the ship was below average. There was a decent reggae/Caribbean group, but this was the peak. The slightly seedy piano bar guy, a little old lady pianist, and a guitar/CW guy (who reminded us of a homeless street musician) were most of the rest. Uninspiring. there was a Zydeco band that had been hired for some on-board functions whom we met and listed to some practicing that we would have LOVED to hear, but the functions were private, sadly.Debarkation was the smoothest we have ever experienced. This was surely partly due to the VIP process our suite engendered. We were off and out with our luggage by 9 AM.
