My husband and I cruised Hawaii for our honeymoon in October of 2009. At the time, this was my first cruise and I believe his 4th. I thought I had posted a review before for this ship and destination only I cannot find it. Forgive me for a dupe. Also forgive my spelling errors as I am having trouble with spell check :)I will say that since 2009 I have cruised NCL again and they have totally redeemed themselves. I will also say that when I first wrote a review for this ship I was probably very upset- so since I cannot find that one I thought I'd write another.I think perhaps, our cruise, was just not very good. I read good and bad things about this ship but now having cruised again I can compare it. I realize what POA was lacking and I guess its really something that depends on the individual themselves.I did not really care for this ship but the destination was wonderful so it was a catch 22. I wasn't happy that our balcony was broken at one point and that it took them awhile to fix. At some point in the middle of the night something happened, rough seas, wave, we really don't know but something caused enough force to break the wall inbetween balcony cabins. They had to repair it and close it again. I asked if there was rough seas or wind and they laughed at me so that annoyed me-but thats just me. Maybe I spoke to a person having an off day- we all have them. Having cruised NCL Star this past year (2010 Alaska) I noticed how that ship/crew was far more interactive. Our cruise director on the Star was visiable the entire 7 days. On POA I didn't hear from them once other then the first day. The captain rarely spoke and we had some very rough seas for the short time we were actually sailing. On the Star the captain was on constantly letting us know what was happening. There were limited activities on the POA and the pool area was so tiny. The crew was less then friendly and a few of them told us they were hoping to rotate off the ship as they call it the vacation for the newly weds or nearly deads. Which we thought was a little off to say. But I understand what they meant as there were no families that we came across with children so maybe the majority of this ship is for vacationing couples or newly married??? I am assuming that because the destination is so wonderful and there is so much to do that they limit on board activities. Remember, there is no sea day or wasn't when we took this cruise. I didn't care for it and my husband begged me not to think all cruises were like this. I can totally understand a person who cruises often giving NCL and this ship a bad rap because they really do things differently and I thought of this cruise more like a cab ride then a floating hotel. FYI, I get sea sick and had to take meds. I was told by several passengers that cruise alot this ship was the worst as far as feeling the ocean. They said they never really did so I'm not sure if it was just the size or the weather but just be prepared. Bonine works great and I do swear by the bracelets. I cruised the NCL Star and had terrible weather and felt nothing so it was def something with the POA - which isn't terrible its just something to note if you are someone that may get sick.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Our room was alright. The balcony was rusty and we had an issue with the divider breaking. Other than that it was fine.
