This is my first post so please bear with me.My wife and I took our first cruise on Royal's Majesty of the Seas in 1995 on a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise and we had a great time. Then came the kids and we haven't been back on a cruise until now. Now that the kids (14 yr old boy and 11 yr old girl) have outgrown their 'Disney' phases, we wanted to try something new and something mom and dad could enjoy on their own terms. We chose the 5 night Western Caribbean cruise aboard RCCL's Navigator of the Seas. We thought it would be a good 'in between' duration, just in case the kids ended up not liking too much. Turns out that I had nothing to worry about, THEY LOVED IT!Having spaces and activities just for kids, and segmented by ages, was terrific for them/us. My son met up with kids his age within a day and we hardly saw him after that except for dinners and excursions. My daughter too had a similar experience hanging out in the room for 9-11 yr olds, especially after dinner, she couldn't wait to leave the table to join in the fun. As a parent it was great since we could let the kids loose a bit and not have to be overly concerned with where they might be. Only so far to go on a boat, right? And while they weren't locked in the activity rooms, with all the kids areas close together on the Navigator, we always had a good chance of finding one of them with a quick walk through the area. The one so-so part them was the dinners. Being kids, they just weren't interested in trying 'new' things on the menu so usually stuck with the simpler items. Not that they went hungry, they both loved the Windjammer and even more, Johnny Rocket's.My wife and I also had a fantastic time (always easier to do when the kids are having fun). The ship was beautiful and a nice step up from what I remember of the Majesty of the Seas. We just loved all of the options for on-board entertainment from the sports area to the pool, the shows and casino, and can't forget the Bingo especially since my wife won $300+. I would agree with most of the reviews here that the food was good, but not great, but with great service overall (kind of slow by the pool, but understandable I suppose), and lots of friendly people, it made for a great vacation. We booked 2 outside staterooms next to each other on deck 2. The rooms were nice and clean and about what I expected, maybe even a bit larger than I thought they would be. Our room attendant, Ruan, was great and the kids loved their towel pets.We had such a great time and the kids loved it so much, we're now booked on the Oasis of the Seas for Nov. 19 (Thanksgiving) and we even booked a cabin for grandma to come along.

Nice room, clean. Bathroom, closet and room doors all open to the same space causing some door collisions in the course of a 5 night cruise.

The hallway had a bit of a musty smell. Our room was next to service closet or something like it, so we often had a service cart parked next to our room door.
