We took our first cruise in 2003 and this was our second cruise on RCI. We sailed the Adventurer of the Seas on March 27 out of Puerto Rico. Let me preclude this review with an old clichE, a vacation is what you make it; if you complain about every little thing, you will not enjoy your vacation. If you overlook certain things, you will have a great time. Was this cruise perfect, of course not, what cruise is? Did we have a great time, you betcha! I'll outline the Pros and Cons for easy reading.PROS:? Boarding the Ship. Wow! We had priority boarding, and this was the quickest and smoothest boarding on any of our cruises. It took us 20 - 25 minutes from when we got out of the cab until we were on the ship. Great job RCI.? Reserved Seating. There is a section that's reserved for Gold Card members by the pool. No need to be concerned that if you go for lunch that your lounge chair will be gone.? Table for Two. We were able to reserve a table for two in the main dinning room with no problem.? Service. Outstanding service from all RCI staff.a. Great job by Jeffery our cabin steward. When we asked him if the air conditioning could be lowered, he had maintenance come up and change the thermostat. He always had a smile and a friendly greeting each and every time we saw him. Everyone makes towel animals, but Jeff was the most creative that we have ever seen.b. Ying and Mihailo our waitress and assistant waiter in the main dinning room made our dinners a very pleasant venture every night. c. In the Windjammer, there were servers walking around asking if guests needed any beverages, coffee, ice tea or water. And they were quick to clear off tables for the next people.d. Also, in the Windjammer, there was never a problem with seating; plenty of available seating and, the food selections were great. CONS:? Concierge: Did not get to meet the concierge; she never introduced herself; we had to go "seek her out". No personal service, she would leave a voice message on the phone, with a "Dear Guest". How impersonal!? Breakfast at Specialty Restaurant. We wanted breakfast at the specialty restaurant, Portofino's. There was no menu offered and a very limited selection. We decided that the Windjammer was a better choice for breakfast.? Disembarkation: This was a bit of a nightmare. We were suppose to have priority disembarkation. When we got off the ship and went to get our luggage, there were thousands of people already on line. And they didn't have priority tags on their luggage. As for the layout of the luggage, the big overhead banners that were to match your tagged luggage, did not agree. Our luggage tag said section 2, we found our luggage in section 13. No big deal as we were going to stay in Puerto Rico for the week. Overall, this was a very enjoyable cruise. The Adventurer is a grand old ship, in great shape with an outstanding crew. We'll cruise with RCI again.
