Pre-cruise: My partner and I live in southern California and we thought the idea of a short Bahamas vacation sounded like a good idea for some much needed rest and relaxation. We flew direct from LAX to MIA the day before our cruise. The flight was quick and before we knew it we were in beautiful and warm Miami. We stayed overnight at the Hilton Downtown using frequent flyer points. The Hilton was ok, the hotel and rooms looked a little dated but the staff was friendly. Dinner that night was in South Beach at the Royal restaurant in the Raleigh Hotel. I loved this restaurant! The food was outstanding, the service top notch and the setting was beautiful outside by the hotel's iconic pool. Embarkation: After having breakfast at our hotel we took a taxi to the Port of Miami. We arrived at about 11:30 a.m., checked in and we were on the ship in less than fifteen minutes. The whole process was very well organized and pleasant. The Ship: We love the Majesty of the Seas! For a ship of her age she is a beauty. Royal Caribbean has done an outstanding job keeping her in tiptop shape. Majesty's new pool deck is great as are all her public spaces. Our favorite place on board was the Schooner Bar. Our cruise was booked solid but the ship never felt crowded to us.Our Stateroom: For the first time we booked a Jr. Suite and we enjoyed having all the extra space, the tub and most importantly the balcony. Our room was always very clean and everything worked as expected including the super cool air-conditioning, which I really loved. Staff: The crew on Majesty is one of the most friendly and helpful we have encountered on our cruises. Everyone from our room attendant to our waiters did everything they could to make us feel welcome and well cared for. Ports: Our day on Coco Cay was one of the best beach days ever. The weather was perfect and the water was warm. When we arrived on the island we walked to the far side of the beach. Away from all the crowds we relaxed in the sun and in the crystal blue waters all afternoon. The next day in Nassau we shopped downtown in the morning and relaxed on the Colonial Hilton's private beach in the afternoon. The town was very crowded due to the fact that there were five ships in port. We were happy that we purchased day passes at the Hilton so that we could use their pool and relax on the private beach.Disembarkation: The final morning we got up and had breakfast in the Windjammer. After breakfast we headed to Boleros to wait for our tags to be called. We had a late afternoon flight home so we were in no rush. I was very impressed that there were drinks and snacks available for passengers as they waited to disembark.Post-cruise: After walking off the ship about 10 a.m. we claimed our bags, hopped in a cab and were at the airport in no time. Our afternoon flight home was uneventful and we arrived home in the evening both rested and relaxed.Final Thoughts: We like cruising with Royal Caribbean very much and look forward to our next cruise. Thanks to everyone of the Majesty of the Seas for making our brief Bahamas vacation fun, restful and relaxing!
