We booked this cruise to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it was also our long-anticipated honeymoon. With that in mind, our main goal was to relax and decompress from our normal daily routine.I'll start with a Cliff Notes review and then go into a little more detail.Overall, we had a wonderful time aboard the Adventure. From the time we embarked until our final breakfast, the entire experience was exceptional. Our cabin attendant was Robert, he was always so helpful and cheerful. All other staff were very pleasant and they enhanced our experience. We barely noticed the "aging" of the ship, as has been noted in previous reviews here. What little defects we saw were purely cosmetic and did not detract us from having a great time. Now, on to some details --Embarkation: We got into San Juan PR the day before we were to sail. This was a great decision on our part, as the flight from Atlanta to SJ was delayed. We got to the port in San Juan around 3:00pm on our sail date, 3/27 (Sunday). My husband got into the check-in line with our big bags while I waited in the other line with our small bags and travel documents. Once the big bags were checked in, my husband joined me in the other line. All in all, it took just around an hour from exiting the taxi to being on board the ship.Dining: Since we were still rather tired from our flights the day before, we went for a nap in our cabin, which was very clean and ready for us. We missed our dinner seating (8:30pm) and went for a quick bite instead at the Windjammer buffet. As it was the end of service, the food was a little sparse and lukewarm, but no worse than any other buffet we've been to. We thoroughly enjoyed our one dinner at Portofino, the two nights we ate in the main dining room and the meals we had at Johnny Rockets. Breakfasts at the Windjammer were very good, and we really liked the convenience of the Cafe Promenade. Especially the easy access to the Seattle's Best coffee.Ports: We did not sign up for any excursions, we didn't want to be restricted to any kind of a schedule. We visited each port for some quick shopping, then returned to the ship. The pool area is really better on a shore day!Staff: The staff and crew of the Adventure were excellent folks. Robert, our cabin attendant, was a pleasure and was always available for us. Even our call to maintenance, when I mucked up our safe code, was quickly handled. Many kudos to our head waiter, who went up herself from main dining to Portofino to find my bottle of wine that was supposed to have been sent down.Disembarkation: While not a total nightmare, it was a bit tedious. We had everything packed and out of the cabin by 8:00am, when we went to our assigned zone waiting area. Unfortunately, it was the ice rink and I got rather cold. We sat there from just before 8:00am until around 11:00am, it was annoying as we were supposed to have left the ship between 9:45 and 9:55. Thankfully, our flight out wasn't until 2:40pm, but my husband was getting anxious about getting to the airport in time. That's pretty much it. The general experience was wonderful and we will definitely consider RC again for future cruises. Our only minor vent is that it seems that RC no longer has itineraries in the Mexican Riviera. As we don't really enjoy flying, we would like to cruise more out of Southern California. We live in Nevada, and it's only a four-hour drive for us to either San Diego or Los Angeles.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Our cabin was a great size with plenty of storage space. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but nothing we couldn't cope with. My only complaint was that smoking was allowed on the balconies. We couldn't enjoy our balcony as much as we would have like because of smokers in other rooms.
